You'll just have to systematically check the chain of events: good grounds at both ends of the ground wire; a good solid clean connection at the main fuse post; around 14.5 VDC at the battery around 4000rpm to test the regulator; somewhere around 60VAC coming from the alternator. One element in the chain is duff and you'll have to find it by process of elimination.
