Yes Kathy, you do need the wiring kit which include a relay. You see, the stock horn draws very little power and the handlebar switch can't handle it. But REAL horns draw too much power for stock horn wiring and switch so after all is said and done, the horn switch operates the relay which in turn operates the horn(s). It's not complicated... might sound like it, but it's not.
