Hi All, a few weeks back I offered to see about buying these mud flaps seen below on Bengt's bike from This Ebay SiteWell I received a reply but deleted it accidentally yesterday but from memory we'll save on postage costs due to buying them as multiple items. Anyway, I've contacted the seller again to confirm how much but if you are interested in me buying one for you and sending it on, let me know your postal address by email and I'll then give you my bank details so you can reimburse me the costs. They are pretty cheap as they are and from speaking to Bengt about them, they are good quality mud flaps. Myself and Foglefar (last time we spoke) are buying one each so far cos they will assist us in not getting as many stone chips or worse, a hole in our oil cooler as has just happened recently to one of our members. Anyway, I'll give it about a week before I order them so if you want one let me know. Staffo

Well my fellow Aussies mud flap hoons, I received a reply from the bloke in the UK and he said if we can order 5 mud flaps or more, he will sell them for 4.5 pounds each plus 9 pounds delivery to my place. In a nutshell, because I have the means to send small items throughout Aus for free, I can send one to your postal address in Aus for approx' $10AUD if we have an order for 5 or so. If we have more than 5 then it might be slightly more or less (I dunno), due to a heavier parcel from GB or something but it won't be much I don't think if anything. All I know at the moment is that I asked for a quote on 5, so as I get more info on final numbers, I'll be able to ask the question again to the Ebay bloke and get a definitive amount. It doesn't really bother me one way or the other cos they are pretty cheap anyway but if you do want one at a bargain price, let me know. FYI, So far I think we have 3 takers and that's without them knowing how much yet. I'll keep you informed as I hear more on who's in on the $10 amount and we'll go from there. staffo

Thanks for the pic Bengt. It looks even better than I thought originally. Should do the job nicely and sort of kill two birds with one stone (pun not intended) so to speak with protection overall and not just the oil cooler.

Well guys, so far we have 5 mudflaps wanted (including me) which is great. I'll wait a few more days just for any stragglers that may surface. BTW, if you haven't done so already, please make sure you send me you postal address via my email address so I know where to send them. Also a big thankyou to Bengt for giving us the idea in the first place and providing pics so we could see what it looked like. IMHO I reckon it's going to be a great inclusion particularly how often we come across dirt roads in our travels or worse, road works with the wetted down dirt or mud which sticks like sh#t to a blanket. Anyway, if I haven't heard from anyone else come Monday, I'll contact the ebay seller again to confirm numbers and then all going well I'll order as soon as the deal is sorted. staffo

Mo, best you ask the seller yourself here.http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?aid=180468773512&ebayref=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180468773512&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123&autoredirect=off&sflag=1
apologies for the long link but iPhone has it's limitations but just mention the Aussie bloke with username firie3 and ask for the same deal. She's very accomodating and will only be too happy to sort something out for you Kiwi blokes. Go the Brumbies lol

Mo, here;s the link again just in case the hyperlink in my last didn't work for ya or something. If you have a few takers with you kiwi blokes, I'm sure the seller (Anne) will look after you as you're just over the ditch hey? Mind you, the NZD isn't doing as well which make the equation obviously look different but at least the Crusaders and Chiefs are up there

Well, I've just contacted the Ebay seller with a total of 6 takers on the mud flaps. So I'll wait for her to get back to me before I can give an exact costing given freight may change a bit, dunno. I will also have to pay her using paypal so if it slugs me too much I might have to pass on the extra costs to you guys but even if it's $12 each, I doubt there is anyone who is going to quibble about that. I'll email all the takers personally before I order anyway just in case you want to pull out for some reason. Btw, I'm going down the coast tmw for a spot of fishing off the heads of Batemens's Bay and won't be back till late Wednesday. So I'll probably get back to you all by Thursday. staffo

For anyone in US interested in flaps, J C Whitney has about 5 different choices. I got a pair and put one on the front wheel of my Honda Spirit and I'm sure it will fit the SM or TBA as well: SKU Number: 1JA 060201 Manufacturer Number: 1810 1820 ; and only $6 for 2!

You've noticed that too? I must say it's about Blo#dy time though Did you happen to Ask the Ebay seller about the mud flaps yet? I was thinking maybe it would be cheaper for you kiwis if it came in the same package to my address and you guys pay me the difference to send it over the Tasman to you for instance. Let me know soon cos I have to get the Aussie order away and I'll pm you this same info just in case you don't read this one. staffo

Ok guys here's the latest, it didn't seem right to me that we didn't try and include our Kiwi cousins in this deal given the expected freight cost savings. So in keeping with the Anzac Tradition of looking after your mates, I'm now waiting for a reply from Anne from the Ebay store for 10 mudflaps of which 4 will go across the ditch to Mo (SpeedKiwi).
So just a little bit more waiting and hopefully they'll be here in no time.

Hi all, Ok, we are on the home straight now. I’ve put in our order for the mudflaps and here's how it turned out. Because of Paypal fees (not using ebay) and ordering 11 and not 5 as was the first quote, the total per mudflap to be sent to each Aussie bloke's place is $11AUD each. To find out how much we saved, I asked Anne the seller if she would give me a quote on how much it would have cost to send 1 mud flap to Aus and it worked out we saved $11.50AUD per mud flap. So not a bad result. Of course I'm sending to each member for free due to a fringe benefit I have. Anyway, I've sent an email to all the Aussies (I hope) with my bank account details so any one who wanted one could deposit the $11 in there. So if you read this and haven't sent your dough, I'd appreciate it when you get a chance . So from the Aussie side of the Tasman we've done well. As far as our kiwi mates, I did ask Anne if it would be better to send the kiwi order straight to Mo but due to weight costs etc it still worked out cheaper to have their 4 mudflaps sent to me so I could forward them on to Mo. I can't give an exact saving for you Mo cos Anne didn't mention how much to send straight to you guys but given the savings we in Aus have made, I'd be surprised you didn't do alright out of the deal either. Now because I don't have the mudflaps to ask AusPost how much to send to your place Mo, I have guestimated an extra $3 per flap to cover my costs. I'll now pm you Mo and ask you to send $56AUD ie. (4 x $11AUD) + (4 x $3) = $56AUD) to me and just let me know if you think I'm being unreasonable or not. Whatever, we can discuss it and work something out one way or the other. Certainly nothing I'll get my knickers in a knot over that's for sure. Life's too short. I am hoping you guys are happy with the deal too. So there you go boys and girls. Now I'll wait for them to arrive, send them on (provided of course I've been paid ) and Bob's your Uncle Finally, I would like to thank Bengt (Piper) for sending pics of his bike with the mudflap on cos without his suggestion in the first place and how good the flap looks on his bike, this whole "circus LOL" wouldn't have happened in the first place. So a big round of applause for you mate One final thing. The ebay seller Anne has been an excellent vendor and done everything possible to reduce the costs to us, so just in case there is anyone else out there in "blue yonder" land, here's her Ebay Site fyi cheers staffo

Awesome work John. I'm grateful that you Fireys have so much free time to dedicate to organising and wheeling and dealing on our behalf. Thanks mate - I really appreciate your effots there.
I was looking for a little emotion face that blows a big kiss but there isn't one - you'll just have to imagine one.

Hi Richard. I'm really sad there wasn't a "blow a kiss" emoticon. It would have made it all worthwhile lol.
Thanks for the sentiment though, I do appreciate that and as I was saying to our Kiwi cousin Mo, I've enjoyed doing this for us. It's my way of reciprocating all the help I've been given on this place. I just would have liked to assist some of our Yanky brothers who have especially been good to me.
Btw, I'm dissappointed in myself for not mentioning Matt (Sandman) in my last cos it was his idea in the first place. Thanks Matt.

Just a quick one to let you all know that everyone is now paid up. The only one who took his time was Kiwi Mo. I had to wait at least a day extra, but in his defense it may have had something to do with my pm'ing him late, (like a day later) and not emailing the sheep ...... the day before when everyone else paid, I dunno? Whatever, pick ya game up Pal or I'll instruct the Brumbies to give you're beloved Super 14 teams which I'll collectively call "The Silver Fernboys" (sounds like a netball side) a touch up, and when we have dealt with them, All Blacks watch out Ka mate, ka mate, Mind you, the stupid bast#rd couldn't even get the exchange rate calculated properly and actually paid me like $10+ more. Now I'll have to ship my bike over their at some stage so I can tour around that butt ugly place he lives in so that I can shout him a Tia Maria (their native drink) or 20. Geez staffo ps: Hopefully "The Flaps" will be over here in about a week, finger crossed

Mo, whilst I continue exploring Aus, the next major on my list is Tassie (Tasmania) and then "the land of the long White cloud" so you just never know. Thanks for the tip on Feb being the best time too.
Who knows, we might even be able to organise a few of us to go over cos all jokes aside, NZ is from everyone bar none a world class riding venue that's a must do in ones lifetime.
Btw, same goes over here mate.

Hi all , How's everyone, I'm Anne, who has been dealing with staffo to try and get you the best price on the mudflaps, what a nice fella . Anyway I was wondering if Bengt would mind if I used his picture of the bike and mudflap in my listing as it shows how the mudflap looks on a nice bike. Thanks Anne

Hi all, I've got the mudflaps and I'm going down to the post office now. For the Aussie blokes I'm sending them by express but for the Kiwis, they're going by rowboat. I think a kiwi rowed from NZ to Aus and set a record of 298 days or something so they shouldn't take too long. cheers staffo

Not a problem boys. We all help each other out round here one way or another and I wouldn't even try to count how many times I've been helped out over the last few years. so I just see it as my way of paying back in some way that's all. Btw, all things being equal you should receive your mudflap tomorrow with a bit of luck. I'm not sure but I think it'll be a pick up from the post office arrangement unfortunately, cos it was express post which is monitored. Bit of a pain I know but at least you'll definitely get it. If you don't know the procedure, Most times the posties leave a note in your letter box to say you should pick up a parcel at the local post office closest to you (generally), which means if you get the note tomorrow, you could pick it up on Friday in time for the weekend fitting, if that's what you feel like doing that is. Of course for the Kiwi boys it'll take a couple of days longer to travel over the ditch I suspect, and Mo, your parcel will be going straight to your place mate. It's just the way it turned out but just as long as everyone gets their's that's all that really matters hey? If for some reason you don't get yours (it won't or shouldn't happen), please let me know. staffo
