The strut idea was always kinda pointless to me because , aside from ride height, the only reason why people ride a hardtail (besides bragging rights) is because the frame looks cool without the springs mounted.

So youre not eliminating those 2 pieces from the bike youre just replacing them with something that makes the bike lower and rides harder.

So if you cut a set of springs, you'd have a bit of flex and you change your ride height.

Theres another option to look up info for...some members use lowering blocks or lowering brackets. It changes the angle of the stock shock so that it sits lower. You cant buy them from anywhere right now but they used to be sold. Some guys have made their own. Like Damien

I dont particulary like them myself but I'm sure he can give you some info on it.
