I haven't seen the movie, but her book Thinking in Pictures is very good. If I remember correctly I also read Emergence: Labeled Autistic and it is also good.
My son is also autistic; he is not doing so well. A week from his 15th birthday he is non-verbal, and starting to become a physical danger to his mother.
