John, where are you riding from? I went last year, but with the below average weather, I figured I wouldn't go this year. I live in the panhandle and it is 450 miles to Daytona from here.

I rode the first time I went. Last year a friend who had a hotel room and dual trailer asked if I wanted go with him. Good thing, I would have had to ride home in the pouring rain 450 miles if I'd been on my bike.

Riding from Tampa to Ocala. Then cutting across St Rd 40 thru the Ocala national forest. Going sunday there is less chance of rain

Have a great time. I'll probably make it back next year and ride if the weather for a 4 day period looks good.

John, a friend just called and offered to give me a ride to Daytona with my bike in his trailer. I may be leaving Friday morning (26th) and coming back Sunday night. First I have to find a place to stay. My friend is staying with family that lives there.

John, looks like I lost my ride. We would only have Saturday and Sunday morning and it looks like rain and cold Saturday night. I will definitely be back next year and ride there if the weather is good. I couldn't believe how big Destination Daytona had gotten to be last year. I bought a bunch of Triumph shirts at the dealer really cheap. Even the Speedway has lost vendors to DD. Ride safe.

My son, my wife, and I will be on Main st. Sat. or Sun.
I'm too ol' skool not to party my butt off with the other ol'skoolers in the same place we've been doing it for decades. Besides, the ONLY place to get a Heineken in D.D. is in the pig restaurant! No bars there. Granted, Iron horse ain't far down the road, but I like to meander aimlessly up & down the streets, stopping in ALL the bars, listening to All the different bands, and having an ice cold Heineken @ each one. I've always started @ D.D., went south to Iron Horse, then Beach st., then Main st., but this years trip will be shorter.
(sorry, never claimed to be your role model)

I'll be there sometime between Thurs and Sunday. If the wife comes along, we'll bring the R.V. and stay at the campground just East of D.D. (no bike).

If she takes a pass, it'll be a day trip (or two) for me and the bike - and more time spent on Main Street/Broadwalk.

It's been a ritual of mine for almost 40 years. Some years, I wonder why I continue. Other years, I know why!

I think I'll hit the Rats Hole show on both Saturdays. Haven't done that in a long while and now it's at the Pavillion at D.D.

It's been an unusually cold winter. It's to be 70% chance of rain THIS Sat.,highs around 60+.
THIS Sun., clear, no rain, but 30's in AM., & highs around mid 60's.
Too early to forecast next weekend, but usual would be high 50's in AM, and high 70's.

Got back home around 1pm today, and I survived yet another Daytona Bike Week. A friend and I rode up to the ABATE Campground on Wednesday, and by Friday there was 5 of us camping. Yes it was very cold (for Florida), but at least it wasn't raining. During the day it was great, but at night it got down to 37-40 degrees. Last night when I got back to the campground (around 12:30am) my tent was covered with a 1/4 inch of frost. Luckily for me the other guys had started a fire, and had a beer waiting for.

We had a great time, but you could tell there were fewer people, which was probably due to a combination of cold weather and the economy.

It is ironic because last year we rode to Sturgis we arrived the Wednesday before the start of bike Week. That night it got down to 45 degrees, which set a all time cold record for that day. That was a very cold 5 days in Sturgis. I have never been that cold in August.

Sorry that I missed everyone. My new job is putting me on the road quite a bit, and it is keeping me very busy when I am at home. Hope all had fun, and I am praying to see you many of you in Georgia in May. Ride safe.

life gets in the way at times eh? First bike week Lynn and I missed since Vera Lynn came into our lives. Roof repairs while the tax man is off...demands weekend work. Ryan, you are a bonafide working stiff now, no? Let's hope you can make the GA Rally. We miss you and Jennifer. And we have a parrot head glass that needs to find its way home from the road trip last January!

Happy Monday!

Ryan,

You were definitely missed. Bobbie and I had a great time with your better half Jennifer. Matt was great, and showed me a new way to get up to the Iron Horse, which by-passing 90% of the traffic.

Thanks so much to Jennifer (and you) for the great hospitality this last weekend. When you get home give that beautiful girl a huge hug and a kiss. I know you are very busy with the new job, but hopefully we can get together and do some riding in the near future.
