One pointer I can give is to use shrink tube, don't tape. Tape is more bulky and there is limited room to start.
Another pointer is to stagger the cuts so the solder joints are not next to each other. Same reason as above the solder joints are fatter than the wire so all of them next to each other makes the bundle too fat.
3rd, take the bars off and go do it on a table infront of the TV, it will make the job much easier.
