In my search for air assist on my pickup truck I found this site with air shocks for the Thruxton ( http://www.arnottairsuspension.com/products/productDetails.asp?groupId=175 ), does anyone know if the Thruxton and America/Speedmaster have the same shock legnth? The frames and swing arm look slightly different.

I believe the stock length on our bikes is 12.5". Should be all you need to order some up. Why don't you call and ask?

With air ride you have room for longer or shorter travel with the cylinders. I am installing two hydraulic shocks on the rear of my 07 America. The problem to look out for is the angle of the shock, if you let the shock go horizontal to much you risk bending a cylinder or destroying a seal. The system I'm installing is to raise and lower the bike along with shock absorption. When I can afford to add a Springer front I will add a cylinder to it and it will allow me to eliminate the kick stand and just drop the bike to the frame. If I can help with anything feel free to ask.

I've emailed the site and got a lousy response, never really answered my questions. They sell air ride for two Triumphs, the Thruxton and the Daytona, but they sell for a wide range of Harley's. From my understanding, 13" is very common on a lot of HD. I may be mistaken but I always figured a shock/spring was rather simple, an assembly with a bolt at the top and bottom, find the length you want and a bolt hole that works and you're good to go... Would this concept work with air ride systems, find a shock that is for a different bike but would mount to the America?

Yes, if you find the desired lenght you want and the bolt hole size is close then that is it. Shocks are very simple, it doesn't matter if it says it is for a Harley or any other bike, if it fits it will work. Again just remember changing the angle, it will make a difference in ride as well as damaging the cylinder. If you want to lower the bike with air ride, make a bracket to move the bottom mounting point forward thus changing the angle to a more verticle point and shortening the leghth of the shock, better way to go.
