No, you wouldn't be able to see the rotor through those little cut-outs, The sprocket mounts to the cush assembly so that wouldn't do, also the bolt pattern and sizes are completely different. I think I know why there's no picture of the other side. I would have flipped that wheel around to lean the ugly side to the ground when parked.
The old wives tale that solid wheels are bad in the wind is an overstatement at best, (I've had a Fat Boy for 13 years). A set of spokes spinning at 75 mph doesn't let much more wind through then a frisbee.
