I discovered this evening that my Sparto light doesn't have a white panel below it to illuminate the license plate. I don't want to go with a different light but found two LED lights that take the place of the plate retainer bolts.
There are no other LED's on the bike. Don't I need some type of electronic gizmo to step the voltage down for them?

Think thats for led indicators as they tend too flash too fast?

If you're not putting them in the turn signal circuit it doesn't matter. That is as long as the LEDs are built for 12V (I'm pretty sure those bolt lights are).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

I'm soon to add LED signal lights to my bike where I'll run both incandescent and LED on the same circuit. From what I understand I'll need to add resistors before the LEDs for the blinker to work normally. In your case however I don't think you need anything.

For the plate lights all you will have to do is hook em up. For what Keith wants to do he will have to put a resistor in the line. Drag Specialties sells a small one for that purpose and a larger one for 4 LED signals.

superbrightleds.com has direct replacement 1157 LED bulbs that will work without having to put in a resistor or anything.

been lookin at LEDs for a while now and from what ive read if your changing your flashers over to LED you may need a load resistor , as they will blink to fast. a proper flasher unit would be better then you save wattage for other electric accessories .however if you are adding LEDs along with your regular incandesant blinkers no load resistor is needed,as your drawing very little from the original load.these guys are very helpful http://www.customdynamics.com/ . lots of everything LED, resistors , led flasher units etc . most of the Yamaha RSV guys i talk to use these guys and no bad reports . i'll be picking up some LEDs myself from them in Daytona.

Wire the LED bolts to the tail light. If there are three wires (one should be a ground) connect to the one that lights the tail all the time...I ran these on my ZX636

Thanks a bunch for the help guys. It's a relief to know I can just direct wire them in.
