They might've been riding with Avon fairings. Can't find a pic of one on a bike, but
here's one they still sell. They also had batwing kind of fairing. I believe these were common on police bikes. Not a full fairing though.
Here's a pic of an pre-unit Avon full fairing that was adapted to fit a new Hinckley Bonneville.
Sadly, the owner was run into by a Harley, and is in the process of tracking another one down.
I'm sure there were other fairings produced for Triumph roadracers.
