One of the owner's of a local motorcycle shop went down on his Rocket on Tuesday. Broke one leg in 2 places and crushed one bone. He's under sedation until the swelling can go down and surgery can be done. Probably a couple of weeks. It's serious, but not life threatening. He's a retired LEO from Southern CA. Bike only suffered $1000 worth of cosmetic damage. Wow! Please pray for Bill as he's got a long road ahead of him. Thanks so much.

Always hate to hear about someone going down, but even with a long road ahead of him, glad that he is going to be around to tell the tale.

Crushed bone - oh my, that does not sound like fun.

Still, glad it wasn't worse. Best wishes for a speedy & full recovery.

Well Kathy,

As a recipient of more well-wishes and expressions of ba.com support than I deserve following my "mishap" last July, all I can say is it means a lot and helps with the recovery process. The hospital I was at had a website where folks could send greetings and other forms of general harassment, which were hand delivered by pretty nurses

I hope he maintains his sense of humour & perspective.

Cheers,

jh

Being an "owner of a MC shop" in these times is difficult enough without being laid up too. Here's hoping he heals up quickly.

Thanks for your thoughts and words of encouragement. He's got a long road ahead of him and found out tonight he's diabetic and so the healing will be even longer for him. Doc's said he may have to use a cane for the rest of his life. His knee cap is in many pieces as well as his leg so time will tell. He and his business partner are members of our club and we know they'll call on us to help and of course we'll be there.

Will keep you up-to-date, you're a great support. I'll see if I can get him hooked up to the forum.

Missannies, it sounds like there will be an extended recovery time for him, but give him my best wishes for a full recovery.

Ouch!!! With my upgraded upper left arm (stock was busted in my TBA accident Apr 2008), I know how long & painful the recovery can be. I hope he can keep his spirits up and that he mends as quickly as possible. Best wishes for him.

One never forgets the exquisite pain involved while healing up from a major crash. Been there, done that. Time heals all wounds. My thoughts/prayers go out to the man & his family.

Went to see our friend today. His leg is still too swollen for surgery. Will evaluate it next week. He's going to have metal plates put in then 6 mos later, they're removed then 6-12 mos later before it's totally healed.

His spirits are good and his pain is under control.
He was going 2 mph and touched the front brake and high sided, fell under the bike and at over 700 lbs of bike, it was just too much. He has an 09 Rocket III.

Our wounded rider has finally had surgery. He's got 13 screws & pins, 2 plates in his right lower leg. The knee joint imploded in the accident and so that's been cleaned out and the knee cap removed. Will be about a year before he can have an artificial knee put in. He's in good spirits and keeping his pain at bay. He was in the O.R. for 6 hrs. No complications from his diabetes or anything else.

Thanks for your well wishes and prayers...they've served him well so far.
