That sucks John. I would have thought they could have that issue sorted out by now.  On another note, I started playing the God of War Collection today. Sweet!

A friend of mine at work says that isn't hard to fix and the parts are available on Ebay. He was going to get one that did that from another co-worker for free and fix it. he said the part comes with all the instructions too. I know nothing about them just what those guys were saying at work.

I'll probably just send it in. My Xbox is way out of warranty, but at most it will cost $99 to fix. As much as I use it that ain't bad.

They weren't out when I bought the Xbox. And they don't have the Halo series on it. And they don't have any 'gotta have' titles for me. So  yourself.

Microsoft acknowledge a problem with the X box contact customer support they are replacing most boards free of charge. They either send you a feepost label or arrange a pick up just make sure you have a suitable box. I know several people who have had the board replaced.
If this is to far out of warranty for them check youtube for a couple of quick fixes......dont try the duver repair ...

My Xbox had done the ring of death and Microsoft sent me a replacement board for free
I cried because I could wheelie then I met someone without a motorcycle

Yeah, mine is way out of warranty. A local guy, who comes highly recommended, thinks it's the GPU and will mod it for $75. Still cheaper than Microsoft. And I can wring his neck as he's local.

FJ, I feel for you brother. If you can't fix it for free, buy a new one. I am tossing it out there. I know I am in the minority, but I am a Mac guy and I don't think MS touches much less makes a product worth paying to repair. I'd hate to see you do without for a few weeks and pay out money only to find yourself in the same predicament again. That being said, hope to see you in the MW2 world real soon.

I redid the math and it might be covered under the RROD 3-yr extended warranty. I thought it was just over 3 years old but it's actually just over 2.

I had the same poblem, my xbox was well out of warranty, but as stated because they have acknowledged a manufacturing fault (certain components were put to close together with the resulting heat damaging the board) they repaired and then gave me a further warranty on the repair.
What it can't reach it spits at.
