Get the ME 880. It rules! I put a matching set on my America, and you can tell the difference. No foolin'.

Just to toss a wrench into the thread How about Avon Venom X. This is what I have been using for several changes and am very pleased with the performance and tire wear. Tires: 100/90H18 170/80H15 Metzeler Tubes 325-460 x 18 170/80-20/70-15
BA has Freak, 160mains, 44pilots, air mix3 1/2 to 4 turns, BUBS dresser dogs. Never had more fun on any bike - 2nd bike 2008 RIIIT

Real pleased with my Metzler ME880, put the matching tire on the rear last month. American Moto Tire has the best prices.

I have a slightly used Venom X (only a few thousand miles) in my garage from when I had to replace my rim. I am pretty sure the tire is just fine, in fact I was going to use it again once I wear out the one that came with my new from wheel But I might be convinced to part with it...

Venom to the X power The supervenoms are not discontinued as they were never made in the size to accomodate our rear rim. They do make a super venom for the front. This is a V rated tyre.

No problems on wet roads for me. I have been in pretty bad t-storms, side roads, back roads and I-state slabs. I have full faith in the Venom X in all conditions. Sculptured roads and grated bridges they do well on for me also.

Ray, I bought a Michelin /commander for my front, size 110/90-18. It was $89 less mounting. It is probably comparable to the Metzlers. A Dunlop 404 for $51.95 would probably be just as good though, for our size bikes if you are looking for a good deal. I was looking for a high mileage tire.

If you are looking for a high milage tire, you might want to go with the lower speed rated tire. I think the stock bridgestones were a rated a K. The higher the speedrating, the softer and sometimes stickier tire. The high speed rating will wear out a lot faster then a lower speed rating. None of the BA/SM need a V rated tire, yeah they do look cool and will handle a little better but at the speeds these bikes travel you'll be fine with a lower speed rated tire. If you do a lot of riding above the 100mph range then the you'll notice the better handling characteristics of the V tire.

OK. I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE AVON VENOM TIRE. IN THE TIRE CATOLOG IT CALLS FOR A 110-80-18 FOR THE BA. THE ONLY AVON VENOMS LISTED THAT ARE CLOSE ARE 100-90-18 OR 120-90-18.WHICH ARE THE CORRECT SIZE FOR MY 04 BA. THANKS RAY

I think your speedo is calibrated to the stock tire height so any size change in height may throw your speeds off. I have metzeler on my alloy wheels and they slip around a bit on the cold pavement in winter.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

No problem. Free install is good!
I think my slight difference in tire size corrected my speedo:) They are so far off anyway...

Way off. Best thing to do with the speedo is have someone go 60 on the road and pace them to see what the speedo reads, then extrapolate from there to see where you stand for speed limmits, etc.
