Mountainman & FriarJohn, I see yer (very) good points and raise you an opinion. A bigger part of the problem, in America especially, is that we're taught from day 1 to be divisive. Use whatever entity you see fit, be it the government, corporations, etc. but the powers that be WANT you split up in groups because if you were one big group, you couldn't be controlled so easily. But as it is, people have their American Idol and power-walking and reiki and extreme sports and monday night football to keep them occupied and the gym members are gonna live longer then everyone cuz theyre healthy and the Shakespeare clubs gonna win the acting awards cuz theyre smarter, but it doesnt matter cuz the MMA guys can kick everyones a$$. Meanwhile we're all still tools of the system cuz we all miss the point. And as far as the issue at hand goes, thats a whole new level of silly. Two groups of people who got into the SAME thing for the passion of enjoying and expressing themselves, saying each others way of doing it is wrong. I ride with Harley guys that complain about "jap crap" and how its a maturity issue to ride crotch rockets and its only kids doin it. And Ive caught crap from sportbikers about my "slow bike". Meanwhile Ive seen really immature guys on cruisers, seen guys on cruisers that can hang with all but the best in the twisties, and seen older guys on sportbikes as well. Very very few riders appreciate that each bike has a purpose and none are good at everything. Some (like the Street Triple) come close, but there are even those that would say it looks too sporty. If I had the money, I'd have one (or three) of every variety, and ****** what people thought.
