What you present is an example of some very common thinking... part of divide and conquer antics. There are many, many examples of divisions in thought... where we live, what we wear, education we have, how much money we make, ethnicity, worldliness, what we drive (ride), diet, movie preferences, lifestyle, religion, political beliefs, hobbies, sports, music and on and on and on. So to say one type of bike (or style or riding) is better than the other is like saying one religion is better than the other, or one's taste in movies is better than another and so on.
No... this way of thinking does not surprise me. Disappoint? Well only in the sense that I do hope we learn to dwell on our likenesses as well as our differences. Differences could be CELEBRATED with the right outlook. Kinda like... "Hey man... that was cool how you handled that sport bike through those curves!" Or, "Man you are so graceful on that cruiser... it's like poetry to watch you."
I didn't get into the newbonnevilleriders forum 'cause I'm not a member but I think I understand. We seem to grope for something, anything that makes us appear better than the next guy. Like I said, it's our commonality... like we're all riders, that makes life interesting. This better/worse mentality is boring!!!!
