That lower picture still shows the hand clutch cable in place so I'm guessing he didn't include a foot clutch as part of the jockey shift mod. That would explain the right side shift placement and the need for a complex linkage. I should think that it wouldn't be much of a job to do a complete left side set-up moving the clutch to the foot and grafting a hand shifter on the shift pawl at the transmission; it's not like you'd have to make any internal mods.
