Yep, ever since HD brought it out the Sporty has been a direct competitor for the Bonneville (and they aren't slammed as girly bikes) and I've liked them both. I quite like this bike aside from the peanut tank; and, who doesn't love a fatty out front? Actually, that tiny tank could be a blessing to get you off the vibrator before you go numb.

Standard Bonnies and Sporties are within an inch of being the same size with the Sporty weighing in a little over 50 lbs heavier. There's a pretty good premium on the extra 30 ft/lbs of torque this model makes but it is a 1200. Still, to get to 80 ft/lbs you'd probably spend just as much with Bonneville Performance building up a standard so it could be a wash...then it's just down to which marque you prefer. It does show that HD realizes it needs to really appeal to its entry level buyers and this offering should work for them.




Well Barry and Ed, OBVIOUSLY you two don't understand the "reasoning" of WHY it's become "common knowledge" among the "Lifestyle Crowd" that a Sportster is a "girl's bike"!!!

You SEEEEEE, it's 'cuz ANY motorcycle that can ACTUALLY handle twisty roads in a relatively "sporty" manner(and hence H-D actually naming their product as a derivation of that word "sporty"), and ANY motorcycle that COULDN'T be considered little more than just some chrome-ladened and lumbering "penis-extention" of a motorcycle, such as most of H-D's vast line of "Big-Twin" motorcycles, THEN by extention(oops there's that word "extention" again) THOSE motocycles(and that's the former models I mentioned here) would NATURALLY be considered a "girl bike"!!!
