It's been slow going in the unheated garage this winter, but I'm close to finished with what I wanted to accomplish. A few minor nuts and bolts to tighten, and it should be good to go for the spring. Pics are posted at my site below: http://thugsandkisses.blogspot.com/Some of you won't like the music on the site, so just hit pause on the player. Let me know what you think. Oh yeah...many thanks to Brokenfixed for hooking me up with the bracket. Worked perfect!

Your bike is looking good. I'd give ditching the fork shrouds some thought to lighten up the front end appearance since you've managed to give the back that mean stripped down look.

Yeah, the auto-play music is annoying (it's not the type of music but the auto part), but you've got some nice things going on with your bike. Looking good. What else have you got planned?

I like it. Just an opinion though- lose the front fender. You've made an impressive statement with your work by getting rid of anything unecessary in the back half of the bike- I would make it match in the front and ditch the fender. Looks grea though dude- what type of pipes are those?

I hope I still grab my girlfriends @$$ when I get old too. Of course, my wife probably wont like that. All is a great band, at least that was what was playing when I checked out your site. Your bike is looking awesome. Cheers, Brent

Thanks for all the great comments folks! I'd like to get rid of the front fender, but am concerned about the brake line that reaches over the tire from disc to disc. Any opinion about safety or advice about what to do? Also, the front end has been the last thing for me. Any pics of stuff you guys have done would be much appreciated. I'd love some ideas.
Also, just wanted to thank this site and everyone on it for the inspiration. Every pic and comment goes a long way in giving me ideas about what I want to do. I'm no mechanic, by any means, but this site has given me the confidence to take chances with what I love.

Someone here put two banjo fitting on the master cylinder and ran two full length brake lines, one down each fork to the calipers. Then there is no crossover.
EDIT: Doesn't the Speedmaster have that kind of fitting already on the left caliper? That would mean just moving it up to the master cylinder and running the second full length brake line. I would even think you could find an America line here from someone that went Speigler.

That is correct Dave, the left caliper does have the fitting but in this case it is a standard 10mm double banjo unlike the oil line banjo on top of the trans.

I did that about 3 years ago as I hated the crossover line.
Single hoses to each caliper works fine and make bleeding (a little) easier.
I'm now thinking about tidying up the bars by running one line to the bottom yoke - drilling & tapping it - fitting a splitter below then running 2 lines from there.
Can anyone see any blindingly obvious reason why this won't work?
Would it be better to sleeve the yoke and just bolt the splitter on underneath?
Thanks

Wouldn't even have to drill anything you could A- attach the splitter to the headlight bolt or B- use one of the light bar mounting holes.
As far as working, it will work fine, the Suzuki GT550 and GT750 I had and have respectively both have the front brake set up that way. I have seen quite a few others too.

Harleys (Dyna Lowrider) have a splitter under the bottom yoke. J&P have a lot of splitters. I ran two lines from the master cyl. and got some metal wire holders (about $2 from Ace vs $$$ from J&P)and mounted them on the side of the bottom yoke.

Back in '02-03 I installed one on my buddy's 2002 HD RoadGlide, while he was spraying my paint job. It was fairly straight forward. I didn't have to bother with bleeding the brakes though. He still wanted to handle that himself. The kit was from HD (naturally) and it had a round block that bolted to the bottom of the lower triple tree with three threaded holes, one in, two out. Pretty simple. I wonder if one could get just that block from HD and have their own brake lines made to just the right length. It's something that has been in the back of my mind ever since I decided to go with dual discs on the front of my TBA.

I tried searching for the tutorial thread I made, but I couldnt find it. Maybe Friar could help with that somehow?
Anyhow, the headlight on mine was pushed out and forward with a different headlight mount. I believe the stock one can be modified, to provide the proper clearance the speedo needs, but I havent seen the stock mount in a long time. I think if you took the stock mount off the triple tree you could drill a hole in the center and mount it on the flat side sorta like mine is. The previous owner made mine, but newspeedmaster.com sells one too.
Then the speedo gets taken apart. Bracket removed, bent, cut, and drilled like this...

Then reassebled with the bracket facing backwards. Basically so the mounting tab comes straight out instead of kinking 90 deg. like the stock one.
Then you buy new longer machine screws the same size as stock only longer. Thread those through the drilled bracket, then through (2) 1" spacers, then into the triple tree like this.

Basically youre making the bracket mount to the triple tree a bit lower with the spacers so the speedo can align with the angle of the triples.
Its actually pretty easy I sorta started hacking it up while waiting for paint to dry on my battery bracket..haha The hard part is getting the speedo back together with the bracket backwards. Its a bit tight and needs some delicate forcing.

I'm waiting on my new headlight to arrive, then I can start playing around with how things will fit. The new light is like 9" long but tapers much quicker than the stock bucket. Hopefully will provide a pleasing look when its all together.

Great bike you've got going there Pogue. I like everything you've done to it. The clubman bars look great. The way the tank flows into the seat & over the bobbed fender. Nice job on the side mount plate. You did a great job shortening the stock turn signals, but IMHO, they detract from the overall appearance of the bike. I think slim, old school bullets would look better.
I have to agree with the majority about the fender/shrouds. Two mods that would have a major impact for the cost of a nice set of bullets.
Just for future thought, when you need a new front tire, I'm thinking a fattie would look really good on this bike.
You're only about a hundred miles from me. We're going to have to hook up this summer somewhere & ride.
Great job!

Hey thanks for the complements folks! I did just remove the lower fork shrouds and front fender and it looks great as you all suggested it would. As far as cables I had to have new ones made. Got them from Bellacourse. Awesome to deal with, but beware that there is a 6 week turnaround time. I needed mine about 5" longer. The Biltwell bars feel incredible when riding. Can't give enough praise to that company!

I ran with no bracket for a few thousand miles with no issues with the brake line, but I didn't like the way the bike handled without the bracket/brace.
