We could move the date, I guess would be another option. The hotel in La Crosse is the cheapest I could find. I've never personally been to La crosse, but I hear it's nice. As far as the Dubuque area, the fairfield inn could work I guess. Galena is pricey ($100/night). I'm kind of leaning towards La Crosse myself, the wife and I may have to go on a scouting trip one of these weekends.
I'm in for Lacrosse ... the date is perfect .{in my opinion}

I'm reluctant to go to LaCrosse because it is a lot further away for the guys from the south, and also the fact that I have no idea what to do or where to go once there. It will be a last resort. (until next yr)
I've negotiated a deal with Mainstay Suites in Dubuque for $65 per night if I can guarantee 15 rooms per night booked. Otherwise it's $80 a night. I need to get a good number together to see if we can reach this goal. If we're less than 15, I may just take my chances and hope timmerman's can come up with 4 or 5 more rooms.(they can only save me 10).
Please post and let me know if you will be there thursday or friday. Thanks guys.

I don't think the wife is going to come this year, I think she is going to do a girls weekend here. I think she just doesn't want to be that far away from the baby. Looking like it will just be Me and Marco.
So here we are so far.
1. KaiserSoze, 1 room thursday 2. Jayhawk, 1 room thursday 3. bigjack, 1 room thursday 4. PES, 1 room thursday 5. girlfromIL, 1 room thursday 6. 7.

OK, I talked to Timmerman's again and they said we only had 11 rooms last year. He can guarantee us 10 now but a few more are expected to open up. I know a bunch of guys shacked up together last year. We could probably do Timmerman's again if we want. Here's the catch...now that the construction/remodeling is finished, he can't give me the same rate as last year. It would be $57.60 for thursday, $75.60 for friday and saturday. You guys willing to pay a little more to stay at the same place?
If we book 15 each night we can get the discount in Dubuque, which would make this a moot point, but I'm starting to think we're not going to have 15 rooms.

It's probably too early for me to tell if I can make it, so I hate to express my opinion to sway everybody. Still, I would vote for Lacrosse, only because I like looking at new places. The extra distance doesn't bother me, since I haven't felt my butte since 1982. But, ultimately, any place with youse guys is alright. Oh, and I'm probably not gonna show until Friday.

In order to keep this from getting out of hand, I'm going to keep everything the same for this year. We'll plan to move the rally to Lacrosse or somewhere else next year. We'll do some different stuff this time, only the hotel will be the same. Dates are June 24-27. We will stay at Timmermans hotel again. There is a slight price increase from last year, and for that I apologize, but the renovations are done and the accomodations should be much improved. I highly encourage the single guys to split a room with someone, I know a bunch of you did that last year. So, I want everyone to be proactive on this and call Timmermans as soon as possible to book your room. Tell them it's under the bonnevilleamerica.com group. Sorry everyone for all the confusion, this has not gone nearly as smoothly as it did last year. Things will be different once we get there. Trust me. http://www.timmermanhotel.com/

Well I booked a room last night, for Thursday threw Sunday. I should be up after work on Thursday, so evening sometime. When booking the room I talked to a hard to understand asian accent woman. So I'm not sure if I got ground floor and booked under the block of rooms for the Bonneville site. I did get a conf. #. Scott this there someone you talked to that I can call back and confirm with?

Thanks I'll call back and I know she understood the dates. But she never answer me if she was putting me under the Bonneville group.
One question, did you guys go to Balltown IA at all last year?

Balltown is just north on the Iowa, thinking we could hit the resturant their for Breakfast and than cont. North. This is a car ferry that crossing back over the rive into Cassiville WI. Last time I was on it was 5 bucks a bike. It is down a gravel road to get to it. So if that is a no go for some, we can cont. up the Iowa side and cross over on a bridge. I'll try to get to mapping out some routes soon.

I have to ride gravel everyday to get to work and home, so nothing new for me. And of course someones great directions to the field of dreams last year took us down a few miles of a muddy gravel road, but I wont say who

It made for a more interesting trip. Kinda set the mood to an older nostalgic time like I'm sure those country roads were back then.

Yeah, ridin with Dave is all about the nostalgia. Like when I regularly rode my old trumpets and hardleys, breakin down along the road, looking desperately for some friends to help with the duct tape and wiring.....

I was looking into some things for the rally and I stumbled upon potosi brewery. Now, I know first hand this group likes beer. I was thinking, for the saturday ride, if we go up the great river road, stopping in balltown for breakfast/brunch, continuing on to prairie du chien and down the WI side of the river, this place might be a great place to stop for a late lunch. It has a restaurant and bar that will accommodate groups, and the national brewery museum. Cool?
