Here's a map of what will be the saturday ride. We'll stop in Balltown, IA for breakfast, probably stop near Prairie Du Chien, and stopping again at the Potosi Brewery for a late lunch. Getting excited yet? I am.

From Dickeyville Wi. to E. Dubuque on 151 is snore lane. There's a couple different ways to get back to the hotel either minimizing the time on the snore lane or avoiding it altogether. I'll be getting the ATK out in the next couple of weeks and start checking the condition of some of the backroads.

Minimizing the 4 lane is fine with me. I know you know the area much better than i do. Just try not to add too much time onto the ride. A lot of people complained about the length last year.

scott the ride looks great ..and I would say just about the right time and miles .buy the time you stop for lunch and other stops like gas ..and pictures ...this will give you time back at the hotel to hang out and kick back and have a few...

now if we could only make it

Its always good to have options for people who don't like long rides. But some people might like the option.
Maybe some areas for those who show up on thrusday night and want a couple of short trips, on Friday . ???
either way YES I'm psyched already

Friday ride could be down to the Iron horse and that back up a around on some of the back country roads.

or this is a little place called New Diggin's WI. but they don't open until Noon. go there for lunch, take the back roads down to Savanna and than back up.
There's plenty on small rides that can be done on Friday. :-)

I'm going up to McGregor IA. tomorrow, I'll check the aproximate mileage for the round trip. The two alternatives i'm thinking of to avoid the snore lane won't add more than 3 to 5 miles.

Took the truck up to McGregor today, ran most of the route i would reccomend, (might add a little more backroads to get off of some of the bad pavement)
Timmermans to Brieghtbachs 20 miles, ( breakfast and the first scenic overlook at Balltown)
Brieghtbachs to Pikes Peak state park, 39 miles (scenic overlooks and restroom facilties)
Pikes Peak state park to Prairie Du Chien 7 miles (fuel stop?) can stop in McGregor or Marquette also, gas is usually slightly cheaper in Iowa.
Prairie Du Chien to Potosi Brewery, 53 miles
Potosi Brewery to Timmermans, 30 miles (no snore lane)
total of 149 miles, ( i rounded up all the numbers so actual mileage will vary)
For Fridays ride do you want to ride one side of the river south and come back on the other? wouldn't be hard to put together a 60 to 70 mile round trip with minimal snore lane and stops at the scenic overlooks.

I was thinking for friday a quick trip down to poopy's and back. Maybe down blackjack road, and back up scenic ridge/scales mound road? But the river ride south may be a good idea too as long as there are some cool stops along the way. At the same time, I worry that people who are riding 5,6,7 or more hours to get there may not want to hop right back on their bikes for a couple hours. They may just want to hang out on the deck and bull$hit. Which is cool too.

Looks like dave/roadworthy is in the grey about going this year. I'm looking for a room mate to split room costs with. If anybody wants to split their room with me 2 ways or even 3, let me know. See you all at the rally.

Still looking for someone to split a room? I'm planning my summer rally schedule and this looks like a fun one.

Hey if you up to riding acrossed the lovely state of Missouri, I meet up with Dunnspeed(Chris) At Wentzville and we all ride up together, if your going on Thursday would be great to have you ride along. Already have standing plans with Paul(Pes) he is meeting up with me here and we are heading that way Early Thursday morning. Drop me an PM if your up for it could meet along I-70. Also seen we have a rider in Olathe could have a small group at this rate. If he is up to it.

Um, define "early" What route are you going to take from Lowry City?

It would be great to have someone to ride with. Do you guys take 61 N from Wentzville? I might take 24 across to Hannibal and could meet up with you there.

Anyone heard from the guy in Olathe? Is he planning on going?

I go up to I-70 then straight acrossed to Wentzville. Im not sure what highway we take north, I follow from that point,,lol. But I think it is 61. Oh and I define early as I pull out of here around 6:30 to 7am. Puts me in Wentzville around 10:30 to 11.

According to Google maps it's bascially the same distance for me from KC to either Wentzville or Hannibal. I could take 210/24 up to Hannibal and catch up with y'all there about lunch time.

I just checked on reservations and apparently they still have rooms available, but I would rather split a room if there is someone with a reservation looking to split expenses.

I pm'd Jayhawk form Olathe. He is signed up but is still a little unsure since he has a new bike w/o much interstate mileage behind the belt. We probably won't be breaking any speed limits since Roadworthy may not go.

It's looking like I won't be there this year. I have my son in town at the time of the rally, and unless I can convince him to sit on the back of the bike and (gasp!) not play video games for hours, I probably won't make it. I would love to take him to the Field of Dreams too. We'll see. I kind of like to cut loose when I'm out with friends, I'm pretty reserved when my son is with me. Don't worry though, I'm sure Chris will have you guys breaking speed limits anyway. Maybe we can ride to Hannibal with you guys though and have some lunch...

Don't count me completely out yet though!

That's a bummer, Dave. I'll have to make sure these guys keep their pace up.

Hey Paul, Jayhawk and I discussed splitting a room so if he's still going, I assume we're still splitting a room.

Hey Rick, I guess we need to get the meeting plans together. Looks like we might have a nice little group ride up this year. Let me know what time you want to meet and where.
