Probably a giant step backwards for the UK. Several years ago my entire family including my in-laws visited the town in Italy where my father in law was born and where he still has relatives. They treated us like royalty, but the biggest thing I noticed was that they walked to the market and bought fresh food for each days' meals. All of the food was delicious of course. So when I got back to the US I came to realize how much of our food is processed food and how little is actually fresh meat, vegtables, eggs, etc. When we go to the grocery store we come home with a bunch of food in cans, boxes, plastic, microwaveable containers, etc. Really kind of F'ed up when you think about it. No wonder the French and Italians can drink wine and eat so well, while still outliving us Americans by decades.
