What size fastener did you use to attach the pipes to the rear brackets?

Figured that was the case, but I'm a couple of sets of pipes away from stock so the original bolts/screws are long gone. Trying to find the actual size so I can replace them. Thanks for the response.

If it mounts to the holes left when you take off the passenger peg hangers, I think its an M8 metric fastener. length I'm not sure - depends if it the footpeg hangers remain or are removed.

Bueller? Bueller? Sorry....anyway I guess I'll drag a pipe out to the local Home Depot and do a bit of first-hand sizing.

I've been there... taken some big pieces in to find the right size hardware

OK, just a bit miffed. Been to Home Depot and Menards with the pipe and no luck. Looks to be a 5/16" coarse thread, but even then the bolt screwed in only about 3 turns. The shortest length I could find was 1/2" and that was too long. Any suggestions?

hmmm... maybe at the local True Value or Ace Hardware, then look at the specialty bolts like the allen head. Let me look around tomorrow at work and see if I can dig something up. Hopefully it's a standard pitch. 5/16" seems weird though, since it's a metric bike.

Good point on the metric. Just figured since the pipes are made in the US the fasteners would be standard. I'll try to get to the local Ace this weekend and give it another shot.

If you have the original hangers, no problem. Epcos come with jets and mounting bolts.

Got the pipes second hand...no mounting bolts included. Dang the luck!

ACE is the place for your helpful hardware man, er, woman in this case. Everything I needed and more in less than 5 minutes.

I usually have very good luck with hardware there! Glad you got it sorted out!

I believe they are 8mm. A 5/16 screw will start in cause it is .312 diameter an 8mm is .31496. It hangs up 1/2 way cause that is when you are starting to cross thread it. The pitch of a standard 5/16-18 thread is .0555 and the 8mm x 1.25 is .0492 so they will start but if you force it it will mess up the threads.
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon "

You correct Brian. That's exactly what happened. Glad I backed off the 5/16 before I really messed up the threads.

So trying to pull out the baffles just for grins on the new Epcos. Removed the screw near the end of the pipe but these suckers aren't budging. Any suggestions on how to get em out?
