Thanks Hyates. Patrick, I put mine back on but I now don't know why. I thought for some reason it would help if I did go over but the other day I overfilled my tank slightly and when on the stand it was leaking slightly out of the cap vent.
So I'll probably take mine off again too. I was caught out once with it which is why I got the vented cap in the first place. Having it on is a waste of space now and will disconnect it altogether I think. It's also a pain trying to connect to the tank when putting it back on the bike.
