D'oh! I'm sorry I just jumped right in here without an introduction.

I'm Kevin Domino from Minneapolis, and I've been a motorcyclist for 40+ years. I've had lots of bikes over the years, including 2 of the new Bonnevilles (one of which is a pre-fire 100th Anniversary T-100). I'm a member of other forums and I've been following the Bonnenville America site and felt so comfortable here that I forgot to say "hi."

I wrote the book because the most common topic of discussion between motorcyclists--newbies and veterans--is what makes this or that motorcycle better than any other. And, I couldn't find any resource that addressed the question objectively without trying to sell a particular point of view or a product.

The book takes on that question of perfection, not by answering it directly, but by having each reader review and consider why they ride, their own preferences and needs, and then offers recommendations based on those answers. Questionnaires used in the book are available for download on the website.

I had the good fortune of having 671 Press edit and publish the book, and it has been a great experience.

I wanted to make sure the members here knew about the book, not so much for your own use (although I'll bet you'll find something of value in it), but because you are probably the "biker" in your social circles and are asked by new riders for your recommendations. The book is especially helpful for those just getting into the sport.

Wow... 40+ years experience there Kevin. I can relate to that!! Well I have to say (judging from your website) you've put a great deal of thought into this book. Combine that with your experience and I'd say you're making a pretty good (and important) contribution to the riders community.

The fact is you're making other people think and that can only be good. Far to many people get themselves into trouble out of a lack of a holistic overview of the matter. Your book should help people stay grounded in the decisions and steps they'll take towards becoming successful riders.

Thank you for your kind comments. I hope every forum member can use some of the information. I got a kick out of one of my reviewers who said he got the book as research for his next bike, and that "research is less expensive than experience."

I am really glad you brought up the question of "The Perfect Motorcycle." You're absolutely right! The title of my book is meant to provoke that very question. Most of us say, "Perfect Motorcycle? There is no perfect motorcycle for everyone!"

The premise of the book is that the perfect motorcycle is the one with characteristics that perfectly match your needs and desires. There is not one type of bike that is right for everyone. The only standard of perfection that matters is yours, at this point in your life. A bike that fits you physically, fulfills your intended riding purpose, fits your style, fits within your budget, and inspires you to ride is the perfect motorcycle. The perfect fit. The right bike, right now.

The process presented helps all riders (especially new riders) make sure they consider many criteria to ensure they don't miss something important that can make their experience even better. The fact that everyone has their own opinions--most times very strong opinions--is exactly why I wrote the book. I am not going to presume to tell you what the perfect motorcycle is--YOU are going to tell yourself. The fun of figuring out what you like is a big part of the motorcycling experience.

Also mentioned in the book is that, sometimes, the perfect motorcycle is 2 or 3 bikes (or more). Or, in the case of Jay Leno, many dozens.

Well just yesterday a copy of Kevin's book arrived in the mail and although I've only had a chance to skim over the book, it already looks impressive. I look forward to delving deeper as time permits.
