Hi all I have changed my bike from a FJR 1300 to a 07 America, because of the snow here in the uk I havent been able to ride the bike since I bought it, I have been reading a lot about carb problems in the wet. Any advice on this would be good also any cures for this problem?

First of all, you might get a quicker and better response if you would post this in the TECHNICAL section of the forum. Then the sub-category would be Performance mods or Miscellaneous. No big deal though. Forums HELP is for questions about using this forums website mostly.
About your problem...Are you set up stock or what mods have you done to the bike? AI removal, Airbox, etc...
Has your battery been relocated exposing your air filters?

Thanks for the reply, I will never get used to these sites, the bike is as it was made but I will be fitting loud pipes which I think I have to rejet the carbs. I have not had a problem with the bike only coverd 70 miles but when the weather gets better I will be doing up to 300 mile runs weekends so I worry about what I have been reading

I wouldn't worry until there is an actual problem. The "what if" stories take the fun out of riding! Where's your sense of adventure?

Ya, Gordon. If you don't have problems, just go with it. If you want to take a wet weather precaution...you could put those water-resistant covers over your airfilters. That's about it for now.
In regard to your pipes, you probably will have to rejet and make some adjustments if your going from stock to more free flowing pipes.

Welcome to the forum. I have ridden in rain numerous times, several hundred miles on occasion. The only problem I had was a result of my own doing. A popular airbox modification involves cutting out the bottom of the air filter and then cutting a matching hole in the bottom of the airbox. Added quite a lot on top end, along with opened pipes and appropriate jetting.
I rode from here in non-stop, torrential rains about 100 miles about highway speeds, spent the night, then off again in steady rain the next morning. Water from the back tire sprayed onto the top of the swing arm and splashed right up into the airbox, saturating the filter. Bike would hardly run until I figured it out and went the rest of the way sans air filter. I closed the hole up, haven't had a problem since. Not so much as a hiccup. Even then, It took 150 miles or so in steady, heavy rain before it was a problem.

Some of us have had some wet weather problems, but many have not. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you have a problem. If you wan't to be proactive, use some dilithium grease in the right places and take a few of the very easy precautions listed elsewhere on this site. In a word, don't sweat it!

First thing you need to do is cut the end of the fuel vent hose (below the bike, in front of the rear wheel) at an angle creating a venturi. Otherwise it will draw water and leave you stranded in the pouring rain. Trust me, been there, done that.

Carb probs in the wet? I'm running stock airbox and filter for now but with that said... I've ridden through thick and thin and never had so much as a hiccup from my bike.

Of course that might change once I start hacking things up a bit on the intake end of things.

As for you, I'd say just get on 'er and show that rain you just don't care!!!
