...Apparently, Pieman in the UK had swapped an old ignitor into a newer thruxton that had been retro-fitted with a 790 cam and had good results...
I imagine that one of the seven of nine positions would be for a 865 speedy/america. If you have a 865 speedy/america and install 790 cams, then set the blue number position dial to the 790 position. Done.
Mr. Zhou made note that the blue dial position is determined by your existing CDI part number/VIN number. And like Bucky stated above, Mr Zhou is very forthcoming and more than willing to talk! I thanked him profusely for his time and effort.
Funny thing too. My phone call was answered by a woman that had no knowledge of the new offering. She asked if I would like to speak with Mr. Zhou. When Mr. Zhou picked up, I made mention of Bonnevilleamerica.com. Mr. Zhou was very familiar with that site. Our Site. Even though procom had a CDI for the 360 cranks already, all the 360 crank riders are directly benefiting from the fact that Triumph dared to 'bastardize' the Bonneville. In so doing, Procom, eventually succumbed to our desires and quite remarkably, dedicated engineering mind power to producing a CDI for the 270 cranks. Procom thought out of the GILL box and developed a multi application ignitor. This benefits Procom, the 360 owners and 270 crank owners. As now the 360 crowd has the benefit of being able to program the CDI.
So to all those aholes who say we don’t own a true classic or retro British motorcycle: KISS MY GRITS. And don’t bother to buy one of the upgraded CDI, that us non classic, non retro trumpet owners caused to be developed!
Grits indeed!
