Thanks Bucky, I read some posts over on the TRAT site that discussed this with the new and old thruxton. Apparently, Pieman in the UK had swapped an old ignitor into a newer thruxton that had been retro-fitted with a 790 cam and had good results. I'm thinking the same might apply to our bikes and if I ever get the cash to do something to my bike aside from exhaust and carb tuning, I would consider the TPUSA kit that comes with high compression 865 pistons and a 790 style cam (about $1,000). At that point you might as well spend another $200 and possibly get an improvement from the better ignition timing. I'm only a shade tree machanic, so I'm hoping some other folks try this out and verify that it's worthwhile.
