Thompson, the rigid frame is the way is the way I should have gone but my back has seen better days. I had to weld the shock mounts for the softail shocks and find a place to weld the rear engine mount(I didn't want a seat post) plus cut out the the stock Harley front motor nount so I could move my engine forward. Did you do anthing to the engine?
