I never did understand why most side cars are on the right side of the bike. Is there a reason for it???

Over here, they are on the right. Across the pond, on the left. Like steering wheels in cars.

Do our British or Aussie cousins place their sidecars on the left side of their bikes? I'm guessing this shot's not in the U.S. because of the Plates on the bikes in the background of the shot.

looks great. The rego plates on the bike in the back ground I think are English plates. Can anyone confirm.

Sidecars are always placed on the side of the bike that's closest to the curb so, yes in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Thailand, and all the other countries that drive on the left, sidecars are also on the left.

they look like British reg plates..... but.....  as the ground looks quite dry i,m not sure its in the UK  .

Looks very similar to a Squire with the optional passenger step.

That's a Monza sidecar which is made in the UK for the America. Bit of a story here.

I quite fancy a bike with a sidecar, I had the chance to ride a BMW outfit a few years ago, it takes some getting used to, first corner is fun.

This would be the reason I'd hack a bike. But I'd make it one where he could get his nose in the wind.

Yeah, I rode(or would that be "drove" in this case?) a buddy's hack once, and after gettin' off the thing I vowed NEVER to ride(or once again, would that be "drive"???) one of those things ever again!!!
Yep, just Like Stephen[NIbiker] inferred above, them suckers handle kind'a "fun" around corners, alright....though I think I'd use a slightly different adverb(or would that be an adjective?) than "fun" to describe their handling characteristics!!!
(I found the sensation to be kind'a like it was constantly fightin' itself, AND ME, down the road!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I've never tried riding/driving with a hack, but I imagine trying to lean or counter-steering. Would feel interesting...

Riding with a sidecar is an education  once you master it it IS Fun !  yes I have had sidecars in the past it was the only way I could take my family with me to rallies and camping holidays

A side car is probably the only way I could get my girlfriend to ride with me, unless I can get her to buy a Can-Am Spyder trike. Still, I wouldn't "hack" my Bonneville America. A Rocket III on the other hand...

Well Phil, yes, I suppose one could say my short 10 miles of "education" behind the handlebars of my buddy's old R60/2 hack wasn't nearly enough time to get a full and true appreciation of the art and academics involved in such an endeavor as mastering the precise control of a vehicle designed to accomodate only two wheels in operation but then later affixed with an additional third one, and maybe thus yet again proving the classic old admonition of "A little bit of learning can be a dangerous thing!" can still hold a great deal of validity in this world...BUT personally I think I'll continue to pass up any and all invitations to either own or operate such a conveyance, at least within the foreseeable future anyway, ol' buddy!!!  
(....but yes, I can certainly see how some folks might find those suckers to be a fun and convenient alternative TOO!)
