The speedo says 240 but the speed the side streets go by don't look like it's that fast. The wheelie to well over 100 is nuts too if the speed is correct.

Exactly at what speed does a wheelie - particularly one on a public highway become nuts?

Agree with you 100% Dog......as he backs it off the centre lane markings aren't going by quick enough either. At 160 MPH those lines should all be blurring into each other.

Maybe it is 240 km/h?
Don't think so.....the KPH markings are on the inner ring of the speedo. It's a bit blurred....but I think that's what I'm seeing.

I dunno. The white lines down the middle don't look like that kind of speed to me. Could be just someone lookin to impress.

I'm on the it's a fake side. As he is decelerating, the last side street he flies by on the left is between 130 and 120 miles an hour. He goes by that WAY too slow to be traveling at 130 mph.

I agree too. Ive done 240 Kmh on my old rice burner and the scenery blew by a lot faster then that.
Well, that was until the main fuse went.
What a strange feeling coasting at 240.

Now we need a clip where the bike is passing a fighter jet in the background... Now THAT would be inovative.

Ya know, that looks pretty darned FAST to me too... that is to say seemingly faster than anything I've ever done on two wheels. And ya know, that wheelie was pretty convincing. Yet I had to wonder what kinda affect a slow moving front wheel might have on the outcome of things after connecting with pavement at 140 MPH!!
One thing's for sure... them Hayabusa bikes is crazy!!

Definitely a bad speedo. Between the time he puts the front tire back on teh ground (at 120) and buring the speedo (220) the lines on the road only go by slightly faster. They definitley dont double in speed. When he is decelerationg, the lines are almost at a complete standstill at 100.
A car I once had, the speedo went wack on me. If I went by it I was usually doing 75 in stop and go rush hour traffic.

Prior to changing out the speedo cable, I was once doing 65 mph leaving a gas pump on the 02 BA
Then again it was a Cardinal Red, so maybe it was accurate

How can a speedometer needle continue to rise with the front wheel off the ground.

I don't know much about Jap bikes but I know some bikes have the speedo drive off of the transmission. I thought most modern Jap bikes have it drive off of the front wheel but not sure.

So if you change tires to a non-stock size, the speedo will be off.

I still call b.s. but I wanted to throw out another comparison. In this video , some fellas on Hyabusa's are hitting the roads with some serious speed. At the end of the video , you can see the speedo reading high 200's and see the dividing lines in the windshield. I think these go by a little quicker than the originally posted video.

Good question. Would be easy enough to check out by phoning a dealership or asking someone who owns one.
I started this thread a while back which turned out to be fake too. It was just a sped up video.

The Busa does have a magnetic pick-up on the drive sprocket after some searching.
It seems that there acuracy is bad, up to 20%.
They sell speedo correction do-dads to correct this problem.
"Speed-o-Healer" and "Yellow Box" are 2 i found
You can change the corection factor any amount you want.
50 can equal 200 if ya want.
case closed?

Well, how 'bout this -- count the number of "crossovers" on the left as he's going by. I've usually seen those spaced on highways at no less than 1-mile increments... which means he went 4 miles in 1 minute. If that's the case, he really was doing something on the order of 240mph. Can't tell without knowing the precise distances and all, but... Just sayin'. Those bikes are quite capable of doing it. I haven't ridden the 'Busa, but I rode the K1200, which will do the ton in 1st gear out of 6. Believe me, I tested it. And the Busa will dust the K1200 on the top end. Wouldn't be rocket science to hot one up to push those sorts of speeds. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I no longer pay attention to sportbikes -- there is no reason in ****** anybody should have that sort of juice on the street, especially not an irresponsible idiot like myself with impulse-control issues. --Jaeger

The speedo is elctronic on 1 of them, and runs off the gearbox or tranny for those who don't speak english as a first language so maybe it is correct, but yes they do suffer from an incorrect speedo the better question is, why would you want to travel at that speed, and then post it online so you could be prosecuted??
