I just picked up a pair of these at a Bass Pro Shop today. They are field pants/jeans with Cordura sewn on the front of the leg and behind the calves. I figired they would offer better protection from wind than regular jeans, and they look a lot better to me than a$$less chaps. I'll write a review when I have a chance. I plan on wearing my Bohn underarmored tights underneath for road rash. $29.95 at Bass Pro Shops. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_80906____SearchResults

Most bikers I know wear a$$less chaps because they are easy to take off when you get off the bike, and they don't take much room in the saddle bag. How easy are these to take off?

Now, I'm not trying to be a smarta**, but reaching way back to my Indian Creek Cattle Co. days, aren't chaps by definition a**less
But, those basspro pants just might work for what they're intended

Hmmmmmm...Field Pants, huh John?! Well, yeah, I suppose one could use those hunting style kind of pants for ridin' around on their motorcycle too. But I'll tell ya, IF you REALLY wanna go whole hog and REALLY complete that look whenever you hop off your Triumph OR that Beemer o' yours, then you might wanna ALSO get yourself this nifty hat this nice fella here is modelin' along with HIS huntin' style pants..... . . . . . . (I think they call this look a "coordinated ensemble", or somethin' like that anyway!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

They are no more or less easier to put on or take off than a pair of regular jeans, and this to me is a huge advantage over chaps. They are also machine washable as well.
I tried them yesterday afternoon in mid-40's temps, and they worked great in barring the cold air at speed.
For those who prefer the black leather a$$less chap biker look, more power to ya. I'll be wearing these and lovin' it.

Not necessarily. I'm a chap and I have an a$$, but I'm certain there are other chaps out there who have no a$$.

Leather chaps are actually washable. Make sure your wash machine is really clean with no detergent residue from previous loads. Fill with COLD water and a bit of woollite and wash and spin on as gentle a load as possible. Then take out the chaps and lay out to dry slowly. Not in front of a heater or by the fire place. Keep checking them and in a day or two they'll be dry depending on your home temp. Don't ever lay in the sun. Then use a nice leather conditioner and rub it in and they'll be as good as new.
I've done this and it truly works!!

Columbia actually makes a better field pant. L.L. Beans are pretty good too. I prefer a size larger than I regularly wear, makes it easier crossing fences. Also, braces (suspenders)instead of a belt makes for a more comfortable hunt. Ride on up. we'll go upland game hunting.
Chaps are for cowboys! Get a pair of Triumph leather jeans. I bought mine, along with a light bar, on a lark with the $500 voucher Triumph issued in the spring of 04. The jeans are basically leather Levis with removeable armor. Made to last and very comfortable.

True dat, and if your preference is leather chaps, then more power to ya. Please note that I'm suggesting these field jeans as an alternative for those (like myself) who don't particularly care for wearing chaps. Although I don't wear them "religiously," my Bohn underarmor usually goes on first regardless of what outerwear goes on top of it.

Which ones did you go with ? When I browse through the catalog it looks like they are all pants as opposed to overpants. We're fairly casual in my office, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable wearing leather pants all day long!

I bought the old version of Triumph leather five pocket jeans. They are basically made like Levi 501s with a zipper instead of button fly. I believe the new version has a Union Jack of the watch pocket.
I just checked out the Triumph site, the closest to my leather jeans they make now are the H2Protec leather jean. They have expandable ribbing on the front of the knee, mine don't. Mine also have armour.
I find mine very comfortable, I was suprised. I bought them on a lark and knew I would catch some Sh=t for wearing leather pants, but I love these jeans in cold weather.
