I am thinking about going with some footboards, and having some trouble deciding which ones to get. I like the look of the Rivco boards, but I've not heard anything about them, nor have I seen any bikes with them. Most people here have the Triumph boards, and the people who have them seem to like them. I was just wondering if there is a huge difference between the two, as far as size, or angle. Rivco boards are 8" x 5", I haven't found any listing for the size of the Triumph boards. Any opinions?

Can't help you with a comparison but I have and like the Triumph boards although they were waaaaaay too expensive. Just that I didn't know about the Rivcos at the time. If Rivco boards are just as good then why not pay less for basically the same thing.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, want to find out if they're just as good.

I put the RIVCO on my America and did not care for them at all. Too flat a angle for my taste. The Triumph were much better. Expensive, but they did the job well. Typical Triumph in that it's not a simple swap like a footpeg. Tip: spray the foot rummer teats with a good amount of WD-40 prior tp install-pull from the backside and wiggle the pliers a bit when you do-and they will not tear. This will make sense if you get the Triumph boards.

Scott, the Triumph boards are 11.25" by 5" in size. Aside from that, the angle seems to be correct for our riding position. The mounting system seems more secure also. The Rivco's, which I have not used, have a single mounting point. They fit into the clevis where the footpeg goes. The Triumph has a double mount hinge plate. This would keep it from loosening and twisting front to back.

I have big feet, so maybe the bigger board would be worth the extra $.

Do the boards reduce turning clearance. Quite a few years back I put the Kuryakyn switch blades on my bike and they stick out further than the stock pegs. I like these pegs much more than stock but every year at the Nelson rally I grind the heck out of them having fun. It seems to be more pronounced when turning left than when turning right. It seems that with these pegs you need to loctite the little tattle tales on the bottom of the pegs or they back out when you drag them. I just did not replace the left one the last time I lost it. Not very smart I better remember to fix that.

No... they are just fine that way.
But one thing Scott that I found a little weird is that the Triumph boards slope downward ever so slightly... in other words they sit at a bit more than 90 degrees to the bike. Not a biggy... just a slight mod but they shoulda fit flat right outta the box.

Another "advantage?" to the Triumph boards is the mounting brackets are offset, so you can mount them backwards which extends them further forward. Helps if you got long legs. The only problem with this is your pipes will scrape before the hero nubbins ever hit the pavement and the rubber pads will read "hpmuirT"....

Have the Triumph units and at first had to shim as they were off 90 degrees (have suggestion for that if required) and it felt as if my knees were hanging out in the breeze. Knowing this you could bend to 90 prior to installing if out of square. I said at first because after a lay down and the replacement of one side board they seem to be just fine, not a practicle modifications albeit it worked. I do like the boards vs. the foot forward pegs.

The comparison bit is just a little late for me cos my Rivcos have already arrived from Eddy as one of Santa's pressies.
I've also got total confidence he would have said something to me about them if they weren't up to scrach.

I used a piece of aluminum angle purchased at Home Depot about 7/8 on each side. Cut off a piece just long enough to fit between hinge and foot board. Tapped in with wooden mallet then up around bottom of hinge with mallet. Because the aluminum is soft you can make it fit and then bend it in to fit. If the foot board popped up too much just use same mallet to level. It stayed in place right up until the layover.
