Dear? Safety? Now there's an oxymoron for ya! But I am pondering a new question (for me) when it comes to riding and deer. That question is: Is it safer to ride with loud pipes or quiet pipes? Let me explain...
Loud Pipes
The deer know yer coming 1/4 mile away (at least)... they've been alerted and stop grazing. They look up for any signs of danger. Within 14 seconds (at 60 MPH) yer almost where they are and at that precise moment they decide to bolt at 90 degrees to the perceived threat and run right in front of you. 15 seconds and it could be over... for everyone! Hmmmmmm... or,
Quiet Pipes
You keep the stock pipes and when you approach the deer who are still quietly grazing and not alerted to any perceived threat... they continue to graze while you pass by safely.
Are these two scenarios realistic? I wonder. Curious as to what you all have to say 'bout this.
