As hard as I try, I cannot concieve how keeping already combusted and expelled gasses hot will somehow affect power. If anyone can explain that theory, please share.

There have posts (either here or on the RAT forum) concerning cosmetic damage when the owner wanted to remove the wraps. That may not concern you, but it seems that the heat retention in the headers irreversibly stained the headers.
