In all seriousness, if you can handle a commute, I would suggest one of the
small outlying towns 30 to 45 minutes away from Raleigh. Having lived in NC
all of my life I can tell you with absolute certainty that the farther away from
the city you get, the slower the pace and the greater the southern hospitality.
If you haven’t spent much time down here then it may unnerve you the first
time you meet some friendly stranger who goes out of their way to strike up
a conversation for no reason, and may not get the hint if you are not in a
talkative mood.
