Admitting you can't see motorcycles is admitting you can't see well enough to drive safely... http://www.cnjonline.com/news/police-35859-fatal-crash.html

Not that it's unusual for any of us on 2 wheels, but I had to play a Stebel riff on Thursday to wake up such a nincompoop during my morning commute. Three lights in the face, and I'm still invisible. The driver apparently forgot to check all three corners of a 3 way intersection while launching from a driveway. No hard feelings - I lived. I kinda doubt the factory meep meep horn would have got the job done. Not suggesting a Stebel is the panacea to blind drivers, but it sure is good to have on board when necessary.

I've been thinking about a new horn myself. I'm not so sure about the whole loud pipes save lives debate, but I'm sure a big ol' wailing horn will get someones attention when needed.

Some drivers are so stupid unconscious behind the wheel they should be allowed to drive so they are trying to design cars smart enough to make up for it. If they could design a motorcycle detector I would be all for it.
The idiot down on the Texas coast that dropped his cell phone and then drove his million dollar Bugatti into the water will kill someone someday.

The excuse "I didn't see him" wouldn't hold water if it was a pedestrian they ran over & killed. It would/should be negligent manslaughter.

I'm holding out for the loudest, baddest, scariest, wailingest, meanest horn money can buy. And before riding season commences again... that will be the horn I have on my bike.
Live to love, love to live.

I hate to say this but sometimes the person really doesn't see the bike. It is very easy for a bike to be behind the windshield pillar over even more so a west coast mirror on a truck. Not making excuses or saying that is the case here just saying it is possible and does happen.
I learned all I need to know about life by killing smart people and eating their brains. Eat right ,Exercise ,Stay fit, Die Anyway!

I agree dog. As much as it pains us literally and mentally it is a fact that motorcycles are HARD to see, for everybody, in comparison to full size vehicles.

I've had the bike hidden behind the A pillar experience and it is scary to realise that if I hadnt checked again as I moved away from the line that I could have caused an incident. I had a 120dB horn and Thunderbike longs on my Speedy and people still tried to kill me. I dont know what it is but I'm sure that over the years I have started to sense the impending negligent acts...sort of vehicular body language if you will. I dont always pick it up.
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

Okay folks, here's ya the very definition of "irony".... In GB's link there were many people who had an opinion about this incident, and among 'em was this one guy(I'm assumin', though I suppose it could be a woman) who wrote the following... ________________________________________ "I just don't understand people who drive motorcycles!!! Even if your the best, the best, safest, most cautious, helmet wearing, none speedin' rider in the world, you give yourself no room for error when your on one of the daygum things. Worst off, you give god only knows whoever is behind the wheel of the cars on the road no room for ever. That's the scariest part. They make the smallest mistake and BAM. Your lying on the pavement. I don't know about yall but I don't have that much faith in people and their driving abilities to ever get my butt on a motorcycle." _________________________________________ Now...guess what this person uses as their pseudonym at that website? You'll NEVER gonna guess! Give UP?!! It's...."carpediem1987"!!! YEP! Good ol' "Sieze The Day 1987" is AFRAID of motorcycles!!!! (yep, like I said...pretty ironic that a person who espouses THAT would say THAT, isn't it???!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Okay Cindy...I'm no "learned scholar" here, OR even CATHOLIC for THAT matter, so about all the Latin I REALLY know is "Caveat emptor", "Tempus fugit", "e pluribus unum", AND of course as I mentioned above, "carpe diem"!!!
So tell me sweet lady...WHAT the heck does that "Timendi causa est nescire" mean there anyway, HUH???!!!
(okay, I almost forgot...I DO know what "eureka" means TOO...it's a town up in northern California right next to Arcata...oh wait, that's Greek, ain't it..."eureka" that is, NOT Arcata...I think that's Native American, but I ain't sure!!!!)

Dwight, Timendi causa est nescire means "Ignorance is the cause of fear" - Even fallen Catholics remember some Latin!

I got one! Used it a couple of times already, does the job! Before, the little "meep" from the stock horn would never wake any of the drivers here. Got this bad baby and now, I just feather the horn button to make people go back on their original track, should they show the intention of pushing me out of the way.
