Hiya Fellas!!! I was active here a few years ago and then went and sold my 03 Speedy to fund the remodel of my new Baby-girls room. Yeah, it hurt a bit but it was a worthy reason. The room looks awesome (ripped the walls down to the studs and even had to rebuild a few walls due to some seriously messed up construction of years past...).

Well, I have landed a nice job 36 miles away from home and 2 days ago bought a brand-spankin-new 09 Speedmaster for the daily commute. Well, tonight I have been relaxing with some help from my cousin Jimmy Beam and reading the forums here and on (ahem..) other Triumph forums and was feeling that I needed to do some work on my new Speedy. So I took a little break from the innertube surfing and drinking, went out to the garage, removed the seat, and pulled the evil snorkle off my new Speedmaster. YES!!! I have completed my first mod on my new bike! Yeah, I know it's really weak, but in my inebriated state, it's the only thing I trust myself to do at this time.

It feels good to be back on a Speedmaster. Now I just need to make it MINE. Let the games begin......

Have an 09 SM too. Which snorkel was that? I should probably do the same thing. I also have TORS and was wondering what AI Removal would do for me and how to do it (is it easy and do I need a kit?).

I'm looking to the Rivco Risers next and the rear progressive shocks.

Let me know about that snorkel.

With the TORs you have to have the FI remapped and if you want to remove the AI you need to have the computer ignore the ox. sensor. The snorkel is the little rubber part sticking up out of the top of your air box where the filter goes in. On earlier models you pretty much just grab it and pull it out, as far as I know still like that.

I have a carb. bike so the info on remapping and ignore the ox. sensor is 2nd hand regurgitated info but makes sense. Can probably have the tech ignore the sensor when he loads the TOR map.

WOO HOO!! Saturday night I got bored watching TV after wife and daughters went to bed so I moseyed out to the garage for a while.

I installed a Cramp Buster on the Speedy. Some people say they are dangerous, but I really appreciate the fact that when on a ride I can simply rest my hand on the grip and keep steady throttle pressure with my wrist laying on the cramp buster. When riding in town it's too easy to rotate it out of the way. No problems. Well, after putting the cramp buster on I HAD to start the Speedy and see if it was installed correctly. THAT was a mistake - It reminded me how wimpy the Speedy sounds with the stock pipes..........

So, I gathered up my drill motor and some drill bits and got busy attacking the first baffle on the pipes. Approx 1.5 hours (and a couple of Beam and Cokes...) I tossed the baffle tubes (and a couple of broken drill bits) in the garbage. I stirred the Speedy to life and WAALAA!! The sound coming from the pipes was much more melodious. Nice result for my effort. At that point I was feeling pretty satisfied with myself, and feeling the tasteful effects of the beam and cokes, and started thinking "Well, I bet I can get that second baffle out....

The garage door creaked as it slowly swung on it's hinges. My wonderful wife walks through the door and announced "Hey, did you know it's 2:30 in the morning?".

Holy Moly. Time sure does fly when you are doing something fun, doesn't it? So, I put my tools up, cleaned myself up and turned off the lights. The second baffles will have to wait for another day.

I'm really glad I got another Speedy. I look forward to really making it something unique.

Quick question - Has Triumph upgraded the steel on the exhausts recently??? I hosed a lot of drill bits working on the baffle removal of my '09 Speedy. When I did the same on my '03, I didn't break/dull even one. Seems like the baffle material on my 03 was quite a bit softer.

Yeah, Chinese Drill bits can't hold a candle to BRITISH STEEL!!!

I did bust a couple if 'generic' bits, but also broke a Dewalt and dulled-out a Milwaukee....

Only if you're functionally retarded. Much safer than a throttle lock.

I got one of those on order too - Vista Cruise Throttle Lock. I set mine up to 'just barely' hold the throttle in place when engaged. Still able to adjust immediately when needed.

Hey Mike...good to hear got another one!!! Cool.

I've completely fallen in love with your old girl. I don't mind seconds though since you took such good care of her. I've enjoyed changing her tone of voice and adding accessories to her look. I'm looking to change her skin color this winter to something more personalized and might do some minor surgery to her rear end too.

Anyway, glad to see you back here and on another speedy. If you ever want to go for a ride, send me a pm or give me a call if you still have my number. Take care.

Chris '03 Speedy.

You just kill me Friar. This just struck me as god awful funny because I had a guy ride my bike and he told me that my kuraykn do dads were dangerous. I also told him that I was scared to ride with him anymore if he was unable to master the throttle on my bike. ( Not exactly what was said but meets the intent).
