I read about a 'skills' book over on TriumphRat.net. "Total Control, high performance street riding techniques", by Lee Parks, 2003, $24.95.
I picked it up a few weeks ago with one of those Barnes & Noble gift cards. While the cover makes it appear to cater to the sport bike crowd, it really applies to riding in general, I'm just now working my way through it. Most of the references are geared for road racing, but they're designed to increase control (safety) as well as speed.
One entry that caught my eye was remaining "humble" in your approach, meaning don't let the rote experience of old techniques get in the way of learning another way. This reminded me of a guy I heard addressing a conference earlier this month. It struck me that he wasn't successful because he knew the all the answers, but he knew which questions to ask, and was humble enough to listen to the answers.
Zen stuff for so early in the morning

. Besides it's has lots of sharp color photos demonstrating the points

Ride Safe!!
