Do any of you asshats that feel it your right, privelege and apparent responsibility to change the title/header on a thread does to those of use who just might want to read the entire thread? Just wondering and sharing my sentiments.

I never knew we could do that. Original poster should own the title.

I hear pipedr's point here. Sometimes the title get's changed and you lose the original "intent" and possibly audience.

On the udder hand, I remember a thread title in a subforum a few years ago that was pretty tasteless. It was a forum were the moder-tator was temporarilty unavailable. In that case, it didn't occur to me to just go in change the title so it wouldn't stare at us all weekend.

I'm better now

Is there a forum for that?

Sometimes I change the title on a thread that I started, does that make me an asshat?

I've been known to change the title. In this case, it was either change it or have it be "Re: Asshat".

The original poster must have had a point though - what was it?

I don't understand the problem. Do the threads not maintain cohesion in flat mode? I read them in threaded mode and changing the titles have no effect.

I could have saved you money on that one. The movie is based on a book,
which is a dramatization of some supposed "real encounters." It is a movie
at the end of a telephone game. I hope you guys all know what the
telephone game is. You sit in a circle and have someone whisper a story to
another and then pass it on from one person to another until it comes back
to the originator completely changed from the original.
Ummm… kinda like this thread.

Paul, I think Barry is talking about a thread within the past week(and sorry, I can't remember which thread it was right now) that somebody else(and not the originator of that thread)had changed the topic heading half way through it to just plan "?".

I only noticed this incident because when I was checking the "Who's Online" section that particular day in question, it said somebody was looking at "?", and when I clicked onto that thread directly from there, I noticed it had started out with the topic heading that described what the thread was originally about.

(am I correct Barry?...might that be what you're talking about here?)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

What does that have to do with movies about milking cows while wearing an asshat?

It also has to do with looking at the last post list. If you look at the last post on the right side of the screen, and then go to that forum, the thread is NOT LISTED THAT WAY. So if you change from "thread title" to "Family tree" you see it in the last post list as "family tree" but that THREAD doesn't exist in the lounge.
