Does anyone here have this seat on there bike or have any experiance with them at all. They look very nice and of cource they claim them to be comfortable.I have the stock seat on my ba at the moment and it leaves alot to be desired for comfort, could something like this with even less padding be comfortable for 1-2 hr rides?

Now wait a minute here! Now how in the world can a seat with LESS padding and which locks you into one position and which makes ya sit even MORE on your tailbone be uncomfortable at all, HUH???!!!

Don't bother answerin' this out there 'cuz I already know the answer....IT CAN'T. Well at least for ME it can't anyway! And that's why I've actually ADDED about an inch of dense foam to MY seat!!!

Nope, sorry guys, but I'll never get this whole idea of "lookin' cool" overridin' what actually FEELS "cool"!

And ACTUALLY I think my seat LOOKS better AND doesn't make my bike look "swaybacked" as much EITHER!!!

(okay...I'm done now...sorry I interrupted this thing here...y'all can go back takin' about what "looks cool" again!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I have the brown one and have been riding in Brooklyn streets without too much discomfort. Only the craziest potholes that I occassionally hit are an issue, but I attribute that mostly to the fact that my ride is lowered.

I might take a longer ride on it this weekend when I head upstate. I will report back what highway/distance riding is like with it. BTW, it looks great against the satin/matte black color scheme of my SM.

As with everything else in live, it hinges around age & physical condition.
16-??, its hardtails and pan seats, wind in your face.

50-??, its gel padded seats,air shocks,windshields,floorboards,accessories,accessories,accessories.

Whatever YOU can handle.

A old metal tractor seat looks as confortable as thing, maybe more, as its form fitted.

I know it took me a few days, but here's the report. I did appx. 200 miles on the saddle over last Sat and if you were to ride all suburban streets and nicely-paved hwy, I would say go for it. If you are riding mostly city streets and not-so-nicely paved hwys then I would opt for a more comfortable saddle. Please note again that my ride is lowered so it does ride a little rougher already. I will definitely keep it on for around-town riding but will change it to stock for long hauls.

FWIW I am 41 and in pretty good shape.

smaug, if you're stateside, you might want to try Spencer at:

http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php

A cheap alternative to pricier seats, and a vast improvement to the stock seat. Before having mine done, a break was needed at about the 1.5 hour mark. Now, the only time it's necessary to stop is for fuel. It did take a couple of tankfuls of riding to get fully comfortable, but he tells you that up front.

And like you, I have minimum padding back there. All my excess baggage is at my belt line

How can someone (or is it something? )who looks like your Avatar be so Right

Now past the half ton, I did once look at that dainty little pad cos calling it a seat is stretching it a bit don't you think. Anyway, for all it's elegance I did know just a little better than that, thankfully.

If you want to look super cool round town though, go for it cos it does look great IMHO. I don't think my bot bot would agree with my coolness though NOT

Fyi, I ended up buying the Corbin single with backrest (2 back ops) and like most reports it was pretty hard to start with for my little bum cheeks and for longer than I expected. In fact I actually bought one of those woopie cushion blow up jobs but since then I haven't used it once as I can ride and ride with no discomfort at all now.

If you have the money and do want comfort amongst other benefits, buy a corbin or have one built especially for your needs.

Same old dilemna, form over function or vica versa depending on what does it for ya. Me, I like to balance it as much as possible

I've been following Doug Wothkes' trip around the world (now in Russia) @ http://locator.k1tracking.com/Login.aspx, Login: wheresdoug, Password: password.
He rides a Panhead chopper with no front fender on an extended springer frontend , a hardtail with Jockey shift , no windshield, floorboards , NO BULLSH1T!!!
I love to follow the exploits of those buttholes who run the Stampeed from Arizona to N.C. in 48 hrs., or some, with the only requirement being it MUST BE A HARDTAIL! They too wouldn't be caught dead with a windshield or padded gel seat. Most of their seats are plain metal pans with folded up demin jeans for padding , and they just don't b1tch about not having heated gloves or suits of Armor.
NOT THAT THERES ANYTHING WRONG WITH WANTING COMFORT, but if all of them can do those miles (Did you get the part of AROUND THE WORLD!) riding those piece of sh1t rides, then I believe I could go ANYWHERE on my boys' BA the way it is, with a slightly less padded seat than stock. I mean ******-it man, I've got SHOCKS!!!

And no, I'm not trying to be mister badazz, as I've already let it be known that I ain't comming out to play if it's below 65 f. (thats when my Y chromosome takes over), But my butt can handle the itty-bitty padded seat.

That's a wonderfully romantic notion, but it's not normal and it doesn't garner them any more respect from me than anyone else. If that's being a real biker then I'll be content with just a few more creature comforts and continue calling myself a motorcyclist.

Of course it's me! Why would I post a pic of someone else? (but I's all growed up naw)

Sometimes when not in use, I bungie the Geeetarrr to the handlebars, to buffer myself from the cold north winds.

But thats not often, as there's ALWAYS someone/something commin' down that river.

I have that low-pro seat from NewSpeedmaster. I got it from a member on this site used.

I found the stock gunfighter seat on my speedmaster to put me in an awkward position that created pain in my right hip & knee.

Shortly after installing the low pro saddle I did a 900+ km ride in one day with no pains. My behind was a little numb but no different than the stock gunfighter. I also ride with Progressive 412's lowered 1 inch from stock.

To compensate for the missing pillion pad I picked up a low profile gel Phantom Pad with suction cups for my wife when she decides to come along. She likes this new set up better than the stock gunfighter seat.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!
