That sport looks like it has quite a bit more clearance than a regular Dyna.

Ian, my '95 is a Dyna Convertible not a Lowrider. I haven't measured it but it's way taller than my America, taller than the Bonnie and pretty close to an '06 Tiger's seat height (that's the only one I've ridden to compare with).
So, yes, it's not your usual Dyna...short 29° neck rake, mid pegs instead of forward controls, lots of clearance and with the after-market cam, pipes and air cleaner lots of power. I sort of suspected the new Dyna would give the results Al posted with it's longer rake on lower profile and tame twinkie engine. My main objection is the rubber mounting system where they clipped Erik Buell's nice three point design to save money.
And, like I said before, my butt chooses the Triumph nine times out of ten :-)

Twisties When something is faster and not Triumph it always goes to the twisty argument. It was never designed or intended to be a mountain racer. Kinda like a guy with an R-6 talking to a guy with a Triumph 675 about a Speedmaster and twisties come up. Good review Mr. Jones, sounds like the ergonomics suck.

Uh huh, Ron. Yep, I admit I'm usually the one who brings that factor into these Harley discussions, alright.
However, when I do, I never use the phrase, a mountain "RACER", now do I? Because, nope, I'm not "racing" out there on these mountains in CA and AZ. Nope.
You see. what I'm doing is riding "spiritedly". And that's way I like my Triumph BA as compared to any Harley Big Twin I've ever ridden over the years. Because, my BA is just about the best handling "criuser" style motorcycle out there in which to ride "spiritedly" over those mountain roads, which I'm sure you know.
(...and which you've seen me often do in AZ yourself...even with these cheap-azz stock shocks I've still got on my BA)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I know how you ride. You are clearly not the masses buying bikes. I don't see it as a shortcoming for a cruiser. Your argument gives up power for corners. Most cruiser buyers don't care to give up the power for the clearance of a America and don't ride like you. I see our lack of power as a bigger negative than our lean clearance is a positive. HD is sacrificing the clearance in response to the masses that want the lower bikes. They ride like me, never exceeding the speed limit under any conditions.

Hmmmmmm...interesting. (and here I thought Ron had been around at BA.com long enough to have heard about that BIG BORE KIT that seems all the rage among many of the folks around here, and which I HOPE one day to do to my BA eventually...along with gettin' some decent rear shocks and junkin' those cheap-azz stock shocks like I was talking about above)

I ride with mostly big twins and I always have to wait for them. Most cannot corner with the Triumph bikes and for some of us that's a huge factor. Having had 4 H-D's they are great at what they do but it's a one trick pony where as the Triumph bikes do it all.

This thing was screaming for some mid-controls, but given teh clearance and pipes I don't think it would even be possible. When I sat on a T-bird, I was pleased to see the floorboards were more mid-located than our TBA's, (or so it seemed). Heck, maybe that new Roadster with more of a neutral riding position will get the nod. If they move that powertrain to the R3T, that would definitely get my attention. It's sad that the Wide Glide would need maybe more than $4k in mods to get it somewhat right. Quote:

Whats a big bore? Is that a wild pig The shocks suck and they need to be 11-1200cc bikes. I agree. Just like Harley its a shame once you buy the wrong bike you are pressed to change its displacement, seat, gear ratio, and suspension. I think the T-brd did a lot to resolve that. Then again with the added weight, I wonder it the T-brd could do the corners as well as an America. I am just pokin at Mr. D

I measured it today holding the bike vertical (or pretty close without dropping it) and the center of the rider's peg is 12" above the floor of my shop. I'd almost guarantee you that the bike Al rode is a lot lower.

the Dyna T-Sport didnt sell cuz 98% of Hardley riders dont care how a bike handles... you cant pose at 65mph. and before anyone discusses the T-Sports superior quality, look under the rear fender of one at the wiring harness tube GLUED to the underside of the fender. a small detail, until you need to call for a ride cuz you have no lights... at night. my Trumpet was purring thru the whole incident.

Thing is , as I posted, it isn't just the SM but I have to slow down riding my chopper too and that is a hard tail with a long springer front end so that they don't scrape trying to keep up.

Did you have a T sport? I've been looking at them and the FXDX dyna sports. I'm intrigued by the Tsport fairing. And the supposed handling. I'm up in the air between those or an FXR.

I wish some of you 904 guys would do a track night. I would love to know the results.
Well, I can tell you that my wife's Honda Magna 750cc blew my big bore away at the drags last year. Very humbling. No times though, just ran 1/8 mile. They have an Iron Horsemen's Drags every July about 30 miles up yonder and it is a blast. Anyone can race, even several practices so you can race you buddies too. Only $15 to race I believe, another $10 to get in and worth every undervalued dollar.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Can run them 1/8 mi near me at Zinc City too. I don't think they have a timer either but I could be wrong.

no, my brother in law has a 2001 T-Sport.. he raves about the handling. Of course, he's a die hard Harley guy so he's a little biased, but he says it handles great. Still seems a bit top-heavy to me, but the seating position's nice for my 6'1" frame with the pegs in a nice spot under you.. very standard position, which I like. It's one of a very few Hardleys I would consider owning if I hit the lotto and already had all the bikes I like.

This WG felt anything but top heavy. It was so low and raked, it felt like I was the way on top of the machine. I also get this feeling sitting on the T-bird (which I have not ridden). I guess you would get used to it, but it's way different than our bikes. Quote:

Top heavy? The big thing going for HD is that their bikes have a low center of gravity. In fact after riding the wife's low rider, my speedy feels 20 ft tall and top heavy. How does that fairing work for you on the Tsport? I'm about 6 1 also, and rarely does a fairing work for me.

I just was never a fan of the twin headlight. Pop the R3T headlight on that baby and I'd love it. Quote:
