Just for giggles and farts - I going to demo ride one of Ducati's Hypermotard next weekend since they have a new store opening in town. Not sure which series (800 or 1000cc), but I suspect it'll be fun either way.

I had a chance to ride the hypermotard a few months ago and it was a blast. You are positioned fairley far foward over the front wheel and the result is when you are riding it ,the bike seems to disappear from your sight and you feel almost like you are flying. Tons of fun, but really cramped up riding position and uncomfortable seat.

Okay, so I went to the demo ride last Saturday and rode the Hypermotard. They had about 12 bikes to choose from some stockers and some s-models with aftermarket exhausts. I picked the latter and had a blast on it. Great engine, heaps of torque, very sporty handling qualities. Riding position takes some getting used to, but so did my America when I first got her. Definately a purpose built bike with that geometry. Exposure to wind wasn't bad at all up to about 70 mph and I didn't think the seat was all that terrible, considering you're almost sitting on top of the tank. All in all a fun and fast bike to ride.

I love that thing. One of the coolest bikes on the planet. Though if I went Duc, it would probably be the street fighter (if I had the 20 large burning a hole in my pocket)
