A couple of weeks ago my son put his Wee-Strom in the back of his truck and came to Montrose from Port Angeles, Wa, for a week of hanging out and riding. We had a great time, the weather was typical Colorado fall (i.e. you get what you get, where you get it, when you get it, and no telling what it is you're gonna get.) Luckily we avoided most of the precipitation.

The tale of the tape:

Miles ridden - 1026
Miles of canyon running - 155
Mtn passes crossed - 9
Lowest elevation - 4,953 (Delta, CO)
Highest elevation - 13,100 (on Pikes Peak)(barely!)
Max temp - 87F (Montrose, CO)
Lowest temp - 29F (Monarch Pass)

All in all, one of my best rides ever. Here're a few pics.

Very cool! It's been so long since I've been to Colorado Springs... I would love to take the bike there. Great pics!

Now there's what amounts to a memorable ride, eh Mike? Your son riding with you... the scenery, my gawd, the scenery. And it looks like you had plenty of stops which IMHO (and at my age) helps make a ride easier to take on the ol' bod.

Glad you had that experience and thanks for sharing it with all of us. Enjoyed reading and seeing the pics.

Nice pics! And I always love the family thing. I sometimes ride with my middle boy, (He's always more than happy to borrow one of my bikes), but that hasn't happened since I found out he was riding without a cycle permit! He's now working on getting one.

Good pictures.....I'm jealous because I didn't have the opportunity to get out to the mountains this year.

Question: Is the road up Pike's Peak gravel?

It was a great ride alright Keith. CO is an amazing place to live and ride. Moving here was what got me back on a bike after 30+ yrs. Our stops ended up more for his butt than mine, that stock Suzuki is seat much more uncomfortable than the BA seat. (My Rick Mayer seat is just wunnerful)

The road is mostly paved, pavement on the lower part, pavment on the upper, with an unpaved section in between. It wasn't loose gravel, pretty hard packed, just some occasional loose stuff to watch for in the turns. My bike did fine. (until it ran out of air }

Nice pics, Mike. Good job in including some wording. It makes them more enjoyable/meaningful to those of us who haven't ventured beyond the mighty miss.

Very cool pic's, but I am wondering, isnt your son a bit young to be riding(LAST PICTURE) . Jk Would love to go back to Colorado Springs and ride again, it is beautiful up there.

Ahem... Rick, that little bikester would be Joy, a 14 month old dainty little girl. She's still working on the hairstye thing, you know, first grow some hair, then style. (Unlike her gramps, who seems to be doing it in reverse }

Wow Mike! I'm glad you gave me that PM heads-up about this or might've missed this!!! (that's what comes from spendin' way too much time leanin' up against that there bar in the Lounge 'round here, ya know)

And like Barry said above, good job on including the wording there too. And also, including pix of you, your ridin' buddy son Kevin, AND those other pix of that beautiful family o' yours too, as it seems sometimes some of the members around here often just post pix of the scenery and seem to forget to "personalize" it by including themselves and their riding partners in 'em.

Once again...VERY NICE, and I'm glad you two had a terrific time.

Nearly beats my 8 g/kids :P

I always felt each of the Rocky Mountain States has their own "feel" about them. The Colorado high country is a special landscape.
