It is a nice bike but I'm a touring over power person and I think the America or Thunderbird would be better miles per tank vehicles. Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to have heard that the America and Thunderbird get close to 200 miles per tank while the Rocket III ranks in at over 50 miles per tank below that.
I think with the 5.1 gal tank on the new Americas it would be possible to get 200-225 per tank if you averaged 45mpg. The Thunderbird has a 5.8 gal tank and I hear from the T-bird site that they are getting 45-50 mpg. You are talking 260 or so until a dry tank. The R-3 is another story. I heard average is around 35 mpg so with a R3 or R3T you are talking about 200-210 per tank. But I also heard on a site that if you get on it, mileage on a R-3 could be as low as 25 mpg, then you ARE talking 145 miles per tank. That is one of the thngs holding me back from buying an R-3 along with the fact I don't have $16k on me.
