So like the old graybeard down the street used to say.
"If you don't ride a hardtail you ain't sh*t, and if you ride one you can't sh*t".

Well dang it John, ya know I WOULD purchase a set of these puppies BUT my insurance company has just recently greatly reduced what they'll co-pay for my chiropractor!!! Nope! Ya see besides the idea that hardtails are "a little" hard on the body, AND besides the idea that one would greatly increase the "unsprung-weight" on the rear of their motorcycle and therefore negatively affect the handling of it, I ALSO gotta say that I've never yet seen a case where somebody has done one of these "cheap" hardtail conversions (like when they replace their rear shocks with these things)that looks anywhere close to being as "cool lookin"(if that is their objective) as a REAL hardtail conversion. (...and once again, that of course is even IF that somebody's L3-L4 vertebrae is up-to-snuff and wants to "look cool"...geee, "maybe" I just "don't get it", huh?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

There is some very very good reasons that bikes to ride got shockers and hard tail bikes are only in shows

Well, not quite there, Jake. My complaint about the stock shocks on our bikes has never really been their stiffness, it's been the almost complete lack of any rebound damping which makes them "pogo" up and down after their initial compression and which causes the bike to "wallow" in turns, especially when you might be leaned over into one of those turns and then hit some kind of road irregularity(like say a pothole) half-way through the turn.

i would have to agree with you Dwight the lack of rebound is the main problem,i just can't pass up any chance to be a smart a$$!

That has to be the dumbest accessory ever. Hard tails were hard tails until they figured out how not to make them hard tails! Yes hard tails look cleaner, and if your building a bike that is for show, or a retro design, you make it LOOK like a hard tail. What you don't do IMO, is take a dampened bike with it's not so clean looks, and make it not so clean AND a hard tail to boot. F''ng stupid.

That is just about the butt ugliest, stupidest, nerdiest so-called accessory I have ever seen. If a guy had those on his bike and wanted to ride with me... I'd decline.
But... buddy's got a bike with a set up that looks like a true hardtail. Hidden below and behind the seat is a mono-shock that provides rear suspension. So it is possible to have the look (which I like) and decent suspension. But bolting on a chunk of flat iron (aluminum) in place of the shock is about as dumb as replacing the seat with a shovel, IMHO.
Live to love, love to live.

What's really amazing is that they probably sell some of those things.
08 America, A/I &, Calif emissions "stuff" gone, air box removed & battery relocated, billet intakes, UNI Pods, 145 mains, 42 pilots, Stage 2 igniter, intminators, 813 cams, Progressive 412's, modified seat.

I want a hard tail bar bike. I still want to do an LC Fab hardtail conversion to a standard bonnie. Leaf-spring front end. Someday...

Has anyone really looked at the LCF weld on hardtail sections that are now offered? I was looking at this for the next project. Just when you think a bike is done, you go on a ride, examine your "finished" bike and see something else to try. This is not something that can easily be undone though.

Not a good look. How about just bolting on a couple of 2x4s on to replace the shocks. Just as ugly, but cheaper.
