Just a brief history.. I'm 58, been riding bikes since 1965.. Have logged over 175,000 miles to date. This is my first non yammie bike.. So far so good.. I've owned my 09 america for 5 weeks now, 2,200 miles.. Lots of fun. Great gas mileage. 50/54 ave. I've been lurking about two weeks now,, Trying to learn what I can. I would like to know more about the 440 rear shocks??? Also I posted in the tech. sect. about changing my 17 tooth front sprocket to a 16.. What +/- changes it would make.. I'm a real snowmobile nut.. Cycles get me thru summers, but my true love is sleds... How do you post photos???? Once I find out I'll post photos of both my loves. Thanks in advance. MMV.

Hi Gary Vector Stearns Newb , that's a lot of questions for a Sunday night . I will give you this , and we can address the other questions during normal business hours - at your present rate of 2,200 miles in 5 weeks , you'll have logged 22,800 miles in a year . Pretty good for a 17 toother . Welcome to the Forum . Be careful - there are some smart a$$ types on here .

Hey vector. I thought I clocked up some but you sure beat me for sure. Just wondering why you want to go down a tooth as most want to go up to the 18 tooth?

First of all welcome to this here place where the common thread of 'Loving the Trumpet' rules the heart of the many, but after that it all falls apart. Hey listen, I can help you with a question or two but first let me be the first to suggest you be the first to convert that beautiful TA of your into one of these, seeing that you love to rip up the snow so much... I for one would love to hear that someone dared to blare a Trumpet in the snow!!! Think about it... this could be the beginning of a new trend, and you heard about it first here on bonnevilleamerica.com!!! Watdooyathink?
Live to love, love to live.

Welcome Gary. Fasteddy did some shock testing a while back here: Shock Test . Welcome, and I happen to like the 16 tooth front sprocket. It gives a little extra at lower speeds and since the engines rev to 7500-7900 rpm highway speeds don't suffer. Your gas mileage may if you spend a lot of time at freeway speeds; 80+ mph. Otherwise probably not much.

The only person that I seen that changed from a stock sprocket to anything else has a worn out clutch at 17k...just saying...why fix it if it ain't broke?

Welcome, I went from a 16 to an 18 and never looked back. I spend most of my riding at 65mph+ so it works for me. Also about to buy some progressive springs from Fast Eddy to cure my front end dive.

Well............... Where to start. Hmmm.. I just thought first gear felt verrrrrry high.. I can't think a 18 would be needed with an all stock motor.. But a 16 might give it a little boost off the line????? I live in south west mich. Gobles.. 20 miles west of kazoo.. So, how do I post my pretty photos????? MMV.
