[quote it will be close to $1500 including the labor.
Boy did I guess low. The shop sent in a estimate to my insurance company for over $3000. They even added a new tank because of some scatches and small marks. I'm thinking State Farm will not go for that, since Kelly Blue book Trade in value is $2995 and retail is $4360 for the bike.

Well maybe you'll get lucky as far as the claim goes. Had your speed been double at impact you would have had a lot more troubles to worry about besides a totaled bike.
Spoken from first hand experience. Any of these you walk away from or are carried away from and live.......

Sad to here. In IL you can't buy a salvage bike back unless you have a dealer license. SO check the laws before totaling the bike and thinking you can buy it back.
Do not look back and ask why, look forward and ask, why not?

It would be a real shame to total this bike. The scratches on the tank are on the left front towards the bottom you can only see them if you look real close. A new tank w/o any hardware is like $640.

I see tanks on the bay all the time for 150ish. Keep an open mind about pinwalls, etc. used parts. If you really like the bike don't let it go...speaking from spirance!!

State Farm called today and because the estimate was so high they offered me $3100 for the bike. I told him I needed a bike by Thursday. So they said they would pay $2036 for the repairs. I cancelled the new tank and the dealer said he might be able to do better then the $576.17 he put on there for a new tire. I looked on Bikebandit and I cold get a new Metzler Lasertec 18" tire and tube for $128.93. He said well..that's what Triumph charges. The parts are supposed to be in today or tomorrow minus the tank. There was something on the estimate I couldn't figure out. It said 1 LED Flexi Strip - Teal $239.95. What the heck is that? The left Kuryaken grip was torn up I wonder if it is a set of grips??? I'm still sweating whether I will get the bike back by Thursday.

Pes, sounds like they saw a cash cow, I would look close at what they are charging for parts and labor. That LED flex strip is a custom strip of LED lights commonly used to light up the top of the engine or under the bike or under the fenders. Don't know why that would be on your invoice unless you ordered it.

I bet they ordered that light strip from Kuryaken instead of the grips by mistake. Get this. I called yesterday and they said your parts are all in except the tire and it is on back order. I said you have to be kidding me. I called all the bike parts stores in town (something they could and should have done) and found a Metzler ME 880 Marathon for the front. I buy it and take it and a tube to them. Cost to me $135 incl. tube. Cost on the estimate $573. They said we will start on the bike first thing in the morning. I'm thinking I don't see myself ever buying a new bike from this dealership, or even getting service here again. Donny and I are trying to get away to the Ar rally before a major storm hits in the morning.
