If your shocks look like the original stock units, they are more than likely the originals with no modifications.

I've found the best way to judge a good pr of shocks is:

if you are riding along and you hit a sizable bump in the road and next thing you know you are rearranging your backside back on the seat where it was before the bump, then your shocks are either not adjusted properly or ir they are then your shocks are rubbish.
