This might be really late in the disussion but my speedmaster fits fine in the dakota, I use a folding metal ramp to unload or a convinent hill. The truck rides pretty good with it.

Chris, the single can be upgraded to a dual, pretty cool.

Alden, what is your bed length? I have a quad cab Dakota and from the front wall of the bed to the rear of the dropped gate is less than 7'. Our bikes are a little over 8'. If you have the short bed like mine, where does the rear tire come to?

Don, there is no question about a spare tire. I've run boat trailers forever and got stuck once because my spare was in the garage instead of in the back of truck. Hard lesson that time, never to be repeated!!

Phil, a spare is a good idea. Friend of mine was using his on the turnpike and had a blow out. Has no spare so he called his wife who picked one up and brought it out to him on the highway. He did say that the trailer handled very well even with the blow out. No tip, no sway. In fact he did not know he had the blow out until another driver pointed it out.

You know you're a harley guy when your trailer has more miles than your bike.... Couldn't resist! Nice piece of kit there Phil.

I have an 2000 extended cab the tire comes back onto the tailgate but most of wieght is on the bed. That is with the bike straight. I was surprised how well it fit. Your quad cab is taking up the room your bike would be using.

Yep, I think the extended is a 6.5' bed? Mine is just over 5'

Anyhoo, here's Raven for the first time on a trailer!
(first time I've ever owned a bike trailer in fact!)

Notice the wood? I cut them to length, put hinges on the joint you can see, and temporarily bungee them down. Now I have foot planks!! Works like a charm! Stow them in the truck when done loading.
(she came right back off again and I am heading out for a ride. You may notice that is a spectacular day here!!!)

AND Phil....I ALSO noticed the "CORRECT" brand of motorcycle decal on the back window of your truck there TOO, ol' buddy!

Cheers,
Dwight
(sure is a refreshing change of pace to see THAT instead of the ubiquitous Bar and Shield, ain't it?!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
